I've had the tuoldo for a 13000 miles and a year now with various mods, but it aint enough.............

Proper suspensiobn and brakes would be nice!!

I need sumit SPECIAL.....
Tuoldo factory or racing???

Which is the best option, and what are the specs?

I've done some surfin and the specs arn't clear.:banghead

Opinions??

If you are staying with Tuoldo's there isn't a great deal of difference between an 03 Racing and an 04 Factory.

Spec's compared to the R model
Racing.

Later revision Magnesium engine - closer gear ratios same power
Carbon nose fairing, belly pan and seat unit.
Carbon seat cowl
Carbon rear hugger and f. mudguard
Ohlins Forks, shock & steering damper
different finish to mirrors
Carbon air intakes and coil etc. engine covers
White powder coated Oz forged wheels.

supplied with bikes when new, long race pattern belly pan, solin nose fairing, both in carbon. Ti race exhaust & chip.

Factory

As above with following changes.
Blue Anodized Oz forged wheels
No race bodywork/exhausts

Ignore the dog & stuffed toy, this is Araihead's bike, I linked his picture from the Apriliaforum gallery.

If you are looking for a really "special" Tuoldo get one of the original 2002 "R" models.
Spec' is pretty similar to the Racing, but they are entirely Carbon, and have higher spec forks than the Racing/Factories (allegedly)

The one word of caution with all the above - is carbon bodywork. If it falls of the stand you will be faced with a horrific bill for repairs. Paul (Araihead) took a car park style topple last year and his repairs were around the 2 grand mark.

I suppose you could always just replace the carbon bits with normal bits. I think thats what I'd do anyway if I toppled mine. There is quite a lot of carbon on them. However the tank is just black and from a distance you can't tell its carbon anyway. I just think the higher quality suspension, wheels etc is worth the extra.

PS I didn't get the solid nose cone or the long race bellypan. I would have liked the long race belly pan but will have to try and source one.

How come I bought the racing and they didn't supply me with the nose cone or bloody belly pan. Wish I'd known before I bought it that it was supposed to be supplied with those. All I got was the road ILLEGAL exhaust and original and the racing ship.

Hurumph

Maybe it was an option and the original chap couldn't stretch to it. Or he flogged em. Not 100% sure mate. The longer BP might have had an oil catcher in and the nose is obvious.
Over to Bats.
I prefer the shorter bp btw.

Maybe. I can't wait to get my new MTC powder coated black 380mm stubby can on it now. Will take some proper pics with a digital camera when the sun is out and post them for you to have a look at. Can't put it in me garden like above as its all dug up at mo so will have to post it when go out with Aka and tuboy for a spin one day.

Bay. The long bellypans & racing nose cones were usually sold off separately on Ebay by the bikes owners.
I bought the one I had on my Tuoldo from a forum member in the States.
They used to fetch about £200 each, but I think they are getting a little cheaper now.

Keep an eye on Ebay - but also the for sale section here and especially on Apriliaforum, they do pop up on there from time to time.

Nobs is correct the long belly pans were oil catchers for race use - they do not have a cut out for the side stand (racers don't use them) you have to cut it in yourself.

Yeah I guessed they had prob been sold on. Might have been a bargaining tool to get it a little cheaper but had a straight swop on the bike I didn't want to keep anyway. I really cannot wait to get my exhaust on but have left it in the packaging for the time being. Its a bit like Christmas aint it when u get new stuff.

I prefer the shorter belly pan though myself as it gives the bike a cleaner look but would have been nice if it had been included in the sale. At least I got the racing chip so I can put the new exhaust on without remapping it.

Sooooooo, the factory and racing all seem tae have the same decent forks and radial calipers and have oz lightweight wheels
And both have a close ratio box. Interesting.......
Its a shame that neither have mair power than a standard ain tho.

As far as the carbon bit go, i think i'd fit standard parts fer track abuse, all pretty cheap off fleebay!!

Seany, Yer duke broke allready or summit???

The nice carbony bits are fookin expensive!!! The rear cowl is c. £250 new, cant get em second hand.
