say every year that i want to go but never actually do :( maybe one year i'll get to go!

Ment to be a hole load of us going over not on the TT week though just to enjoy the roads

Yeah,a few of us from Ireland are headin over on the 4th june, should be good,I heard they have the mountain section one way traffic only for the week

me neither, looks ace, tho a bit pikey, I'd rather be abroad sampling the twisties in the baking heat

went a few years back for the southern 100. what a fantastic time. island wasn't packed so you could fully enjoy the brilliant road system. racing only in castletown so doesn't affect the rest of the island. racing is also during the evening so ride all day watch the racing during the evening. ferry prices and accommodation: cheaper and easier to get as well. IMO watch the TT on telly, go out there for the southern and enjoy yourself. remember national speed limit is unlimited.:thumbup

bloke who lives next door to me told me that it was the strangest feeling ever overtaking a police car at 170 over the mountin section!

my claim to fame if you like was chasing a police car that was on blue lights over the mountain. on the wrong side of the road while he overtook other cars, only to find when we got to the end of the mountain section at the layby at hillberry church, its was my mate he was chasing for crossing a double white line at kates cottage. pulled in behind him while he threw the book at my mate. he ended up with a £350 fine. the attitude from the police on the island is have fun go as fast as you like where you are allowed, but do not take the piss and break other traffic laws. they come down very hard on you. following a BMW police car being driven at 120mph+ by a very well trained persuit driver who wouldn't have been out of place on a BTCC grid, was very exciting. oh and they do train their police drivers to a very high level.

Do points carry over to your english licence if you get them out there? I've been told the same as that, have fun but dont abuse the law to much

i was out there i 1998/1999 and points didn't carry over to the uk. hence they give big fines or call you back for a court appearance. i am led to believe they were talking about making the points relevant to a UK license. but don't know if they have done it yet. i know from a friend who goes out there regularly that the unlimited sections are getting smaller every year, they are slowly moving the restricted limits further out from the towns. definitely right about not abusing other traffic laws. they are very unforgiving.

Been the TT once but prefer the GP week in August, they race old and new bikes around the full course, seeing the 1960's bikes with tyres no wider than a mountain bikes doing over 100mph is amazing, you get all the noise and excitment (maybe more) as you do at the TT :thumbup:thumbup

No the mountain section is one way for two weeks.
Thats about 10 miles of one way FAST AS YOU CAN GO OR DEAR?
I hit 160mph on mountain mile.
