come on Tricky, ive been waitin for your report on how your trackday went, castle coombe i think ?

Sorry, thought I'd posted but happy to repeat myself!

Went really good, made friends with a loval fella whilst I was queuing to check in who normally rides in the intermediate group, so he gave me a bit of a heads up and I hung around with him & a couple of lads from Birmingham for the day.

Was a bit nevous the first session had to wear a yellow bib along with a couple of others whos first time it was as well.
Started towards the rear of the grid and soon got into the swing of things, just went along at my own pace wasn't long before I caught up & passed the other two novices and another lad on a speed triple, as the day went on this became the norm.

Had a break whilst the other sessions went on, was surprised at how quickly 20 minutes flys by, watched the other groups and got chatting with some other guys everybody i chatted
with seemed really friendly and reassured tojust go at your own pace and do your own thing.

My sessions improved as the day went on I seemed to get past the same people each session and as the day went on fewer people were passing me, the last session was definately my best, I started quite near the front about 6th and only about 8 people passed me I even managed to lap one of the other novices and overtook one or two others I hadn't passed before.

I'd definately reccomend it the day was a nice balance 20 mins then 40 min break to chat with other peeps, although when I got home was ready for a quick siesta.
There was a mixture of people who had rtravelled from all over the country. Some with the mobile homes, awnings, gazeebos with tyre wrmers & all the tack, other turning up with a trailer and also those like me turning up on there bikes with a rucksack on there back.

Have got the dates for the brest of the year and will surely go more often especially with two convictions pending it's probably the safest way of riding quickly and keeping your license in tact.

I took the fireblade as road riding rarely gives the opportinity to really open it up through the box safely but will take the T next time and as I won't have the novice jacket on will get some of the pics.

The Pics, Thought I'd get rid of the novice jacket before buying any. Some good ones on page 4

Fair play to you Tricky lad.

You make the blade look like a 125 ya big galoop!

Answer me this.

Why do people (including pros) do that stick the leg out thing before a corner?

Only over the last couple of years if that have I noticed people doing it.

I've been told it's to act as a cantilever to stop the back end lifting up, don't know if this is true>

nice write up tricky, glad you enjoyed it ( i knew you would )
next time you do one post up on here and hopefully some of us can tag along, have you read Robbos thread about the Riders for research event at Snetterton ? I'm going as i did last year ( that was cadwell ) , try and come along cos not only is it a great day out on a superb circuit but it raises money for good causes to boot !!
Now you've popped your track cherry you just might get addicted to it like me,recommend taking the T next time, they're great on track !

Don't think I'll manage Snetterton, It's a bit too far away for me.
Have got the Pembrey dates and will probably manage to get one or two more in. they have 21st 22nd July Focused events 11th 12th August Phil Bevan
Then 1st 2nd Sept FE 22nd 23rd Sept PB then looking at 27th October.

Depending on work commitments (which shouldn't interfere) I'll try & get one session in per month. If there's anything that suits you I'll tie my activities around! There was a mention on TW about possibly trying to arrange a gathering for the late September meeting. I'll set a post up and see whatbsort of reaction there is.

Mick I thought it was John McGuiness on the Blade.

Newelly - I've heard the leg thing is just in case they can't take the corner and it helps keep them up on the grass. Bit like stabalisers. Haven't you tried it ;)
PS on a more serious note - hows the ribs and whats the news on the bike?
