Hello
I was just thinking, which I know is a pretty dangerous thing, but does anyone here use their aprilia for touring, or do you use them just for being hooligans?
If anyone does, how do you find it touring?

Simon

I suppose so, bought in feb. now has 13.5 on now.
If Riding=touring, sign me up.
A person could "tour" on just about anything.
How do you define touring? 3,4 500 miles a day? if so, call it what you want, let's ride!

that's good to know because I love biketrips :yes
I rode on my own through Luxembourg, Germany and Austria to the North of Italy in september. Did all the Alp passes I could lay my eyes on:drool , and managed to reduce boring motorway riding to 200miles for the whole trip! (except for the last day).
Then I rode through Switzerland to visit a buddy in Bern, and had a great time there ! I returned home from Bern in one day and did 530 miles that day. On a Raptor 650 that really hurts, no windshield :banghead And my heavy backpack was hurting like hell :(
I had a great time though during those 2+weeks, I was extremely lucky with the weather, I met some nice people and I want MORE next year, so.. Good to know the RSV is good for touring :thumbup

to spice my story up a bit: here are a few pics from the trip :)
A few passes in Switzerland:

wELL IT'S NICE TO SEE THAT PIECE OF ROAD I'VE BEEN ON THAT SADLY IT WAS IN A LORRY AND NOT ON A BIKE,BUT IT'S IN THE PIPELINE TO DO A TRIP AROUND THE ALPS,7 DAYS OF OF JUST FOLLOWING THE FRONT WHEEL AROUND THE ALPS,START AT THE BOTTOM IN FRANCE THEN TO SWITZERLAND AND THEN ITALY AND THEN FINISH IN AUSTRIA MIND BLOWING ROADS.

I fitted a comfort kit to mine and now I could ride to the end of the world without the wrist, back and neck ache:thumbup

Great shots......They would be immaculate if a mille was in the shot??

well don't know whether it will happen next year or not but could be organising a trip in that sort of area,if it does happen we'll try and get some lads together

Mate next year i will be free of these combats and you can count me in.... i will need some R & R:thumbup

Now a trip like that sounds like a good idea
When you did that trip, which route did you take, or did you just follow your nose kind of thing?

One thing i have never done and would like to do is tour :yes, you see it and you hear of it , ive done 400 miles in one day but that was here in the uk to scotland. It must take some organising though :confused. If a trip was planned ide like to consider this as its on my list of things to do :pirate:thumbup

I've always found touring good fun, I've done it round this country and places like France and Spain, I really fancy the Alps and Italy, also heard the black forest in Germany is good.
The reason for my original question is that I normally take my daytona on tours but fancy taking the Aprilia on the next one.

Camping and touring would be great :thumbup, those boys who did the long way round and who are doing the long way down at the minute is awsome. I dont expect a hell ride like that but a 1- 2 week tour would be great :thumbup

I did my first three week biketrip when I'd just gotten my license for two days :laugh I couldn't ride at all, but boy did that change quickly :devious
We did 3500kms, rode through the Vosges (France), the French Alps, crossed over to Switzerland, rode through the north of Italy and returned through Austria, the Black Forest and the Eiffel (Germany). We did everything camping, it was fantastic !! :hail This year I went to the Alps alone and didn't take any camping gear along. It is more expensive of course but soooo much more comfortable.
Next year I'd love to do the Alps again in good RSV company, but it might as well be Scotland :)
Either way, biketrips (and trackdays) are the height of riding bikes imho, I enjoy both a great deal and plan lots more!
