Well was away a tour round the west of Scotland absolutely amazing time brilliant weather and roads. Covered around 1000miles in 3 days it was all going so well.

Parked the bike up and on a friends tar driveway and the bloody stand had sunk into the tar because of the heat and around 5hrs after parking up bang, bloody bike had fallen over:banghead. The crash bungs took the worst of the knock as well as the rear pillion peg but when i moved the bike round to a concrete slab i noticed the drip from the radiator.

So the radiator has taken a knock, and i did not want to chance the last 100miles to home so got i recovered total bugger and total downer to a great few days.

Now i need to get a new radiator anyone know where i can pick one up? there is one on ebay but its £224 for it seems steep!

Also is there any special way of swapping over the radiator take it you just fill the expansion tank and then run the bike and let it circulate??

Cheers

I know I know my previous bikes have been parked there numerous times without incident, but suppose due to the **** stand and the heat thats been the last few days the fecker fell over.

Yep the run was great those roads are just amazing on the bike, the Tuono was in its element there.

Well not the case just spoke to my neighbour who has been riding for 30yrs and same bloody thing happened to him in Forres luckily he managed to spot it in time but he said it was close. Anyway if i had not been so eager to get to the pub i am sure i would have spotted it also.

:cheers

That drink has a lot to answer for. I think we're just not used to tarmac melting and **** side stands.

Although, not addressing kickstand length, carrying an aluminum plate to put under the foot of the stand really distributes the weight, presenting a cheap remedy. Just fashion a sleeve to house the plate so as not to transmit crap to your pocket. I've seen one sold commercially years ago, but not recently, probably because such an elegent, elemental solution motivates most to just make their own.

I am going to change the side stand, the standard one makes the bike lean far to much its right off the COG and not good. Looking at it against my mates bikes its well over in comparison.

Flippin bike has been on tar the last 4 nights without any issues as well as all my pals bikes, there were 7 of us away and many different bikes its a bloody nightmare. The driveway it was on has been laid for about 7 years and i have had both my fireblade and R1 on it without incident.

Yep on ebay i saw a wee round plate for going under the stand and looks a good idea but definitely going to swap the stand!

S*** happens, but at least you can walk away with a clean conscience. Just for yuks, I'll share a tip over that was my bad with the last bike (Oh! and I know this won't make you feel any better. Sorry!).

I grew up with one kind of garage door most of my life. I moved into a new place with a different one. --Parked my bike between the garage door and my van. My son opened the door which moves in one piece, flipping out from the bottom. This kicked my bike away and into the truck causing a good sized dent in the fuel tank and the removal of more paint than I am comfortable in living with. After body shop dent removal, Bondo (body putty) and spray painting trial and errors, I think I appreciate employing the little grey cells before walking away from a bike today.

Just been hearing on another forum that one of the guys with an RSV had the same issue this weekend where his fell over whilst parked up next to a few other makes and models.

Bit more plastic on those babies to damage than mine!

Watch out its bloody aprillia and there crap stands!

Hey bad luck mpgscott, but we are just not used to the tarmac melting. I had one go over in the summer of 1976 on melted tarmac. It sure makes you feel sick when you return to your bike and see it on its side. However I still did not learn from that one cause only a few years ago got back to my bike which was leaning at such an angle I still cannot believe it was still standing the stand had yet again dug into melted tarmac. Now I carry one of those little plates that goes under the side stand a mate gave it to me but I think Demon Tweeks might still stock them, they are good on gravel as well.

Bugger eh. I've used a drink/beer squashed flat numerous times down her in Aussie.Scull the 1st JD can for the stand :thumbup Once my old kwaka was suspended on the sunken sidestand with the front wheel off the ground. :banghead Took 3 of us to lift the bloody thing out of the hole. Tarmac bloody useless stuff on a hot day.
:cheers

I wouldn`t buy a special rest as anything flat would do. I have heard the T will fall over if the rear tyre goes down. The American tuono side stand is different and is better.
If all else fails lean it up against a wall....., just got to be carefull, we can all make mistakes no matter how long we have been riding so don`t be too harsh Aldo 08F

Yep cant go wrong on good old concrete!

Will get the old one repaired and then sell it i think.
