Think I might have minor paddy in a minute :nana I've got the bike stripped down and the top plate is refusing to tap up and off. Surely it shouldn't be that tight to get the bugger off! Twatting thing. Anyone got any tips? :dunno

You have removed those 2 small bolts from the underside?

I was in this position a few weeks ago. LOL

Oh aye Amb, those two little feckers are out. The top yoke seems to be tight as a gnats ****. Any tips other than beating the cr*p out of it with a rubber mallet? :laugh

Mine was tight like this too and if I remember rightly I jacked the bike up so the front end had no weight on it and actually slackened off all the fork clamps.

To the point that the fork tubes could be spun round in the clamps by hand.

Hope it helps!

Thanks Amb. Well, heading back out for round 2. I'll give taking the weight off of the front a go and see if it makes any difference. Tarting bloody thing!

is it tighter than a nuns muff?

It was tighter than Sister Maria's chastity belt thats rusted through too much excitement in the confession box........but it's now off :thumbup

Rubber mallet, extension bar, and a whack or ninety five saw it off. So much for the manual saying it can be done without removing the fairing.

New problem now, how do you get the ignition barrel apart to resolder the wires back in that have been ripped out? Or is this a wish too far :dunno

had the same prob with mine me and mate used 2 heavy metal spanners both together finally came off noticed when came to put back on that top of folks were just slightly off centre

I had this problem a few weeks ago. I thought I could take a look at the top bearing nut without taking the forks out. Yolk came off OK but wouldnt go back on for the " off centre " reason above. I had to take the weight off the front, take the wheel out to take the weight off the froks and then it went on OK.
