too tall

Hi Everyone
You all make me green with envy, I’m only 5.4” 10 stone I have lowered the front to show 4 rings (I think there is 6 or 7 in total?) and increased the sag in the rear (still seams solid when I sit on it) can now get one tip toe down when stopped, only time I get really worried is when its high winds then I will shift in the seat and get the ball of one foot down for more stability.

I have bought the rear suspension lowering plates from M and P and now waiting for either a bubseywoo or CBR1000RR side stand to chop down and will lower the front again to keep things level.

Will never put it on the track so should never find out if anything grinds at a silly lean angle.

Other option is surgery to have my legs stretched, or just my left leg to keep cost down!!!

Same here 5'5". One foot down on tip toes, usually the right one (camber of most roads), You just have to pick the right places to stop. Unfortunately it does go wrong now and then. Had an instance this year when picking it up off the side stand my right foot slipped on some gravel and over it went. Very costly in terms of damaged panels, levers etc. Oh the joys of owning a superb bike that's to bloody tall for us short *****.:roll
Strangely the 08 Factory I have now seems higher than the 05 RSVR I had before. I suppose it could be the profile of the rear tyre 55 as opposed to 50 on the RSVR.

Have you vertically challenged thought of popping into Oxfam to see if you can buy a pair of 1970,s platform boots "alla slade"?:thumbup:thumbup:thumbup
Problem solved and you would look so kool:biggrin:biggrin

Cheers for the link Andy Mac!

Love the boots !!!! Am just wondering how you came across the site – are you partial to the platform style yourself!!!!

Can’t stop laughing…..I just keep picturing myself undercutting someone on a tight left-hander, wearing a pair of mule magic’s!!!!

One gud thing for us shorties – when we’re riding the bike we’re nice & comfy!!!! You tallies must have your knees under your chin!!!!

Hi Fastnfat

Rode R6’s before the Mille, which I also lowered - just enough so could get toes from both feet down. Could even paddle bike backwards….!

Didn’t alter the handling on the R6 - to me it turned in better. Handling was awesome - rode like a 400 but more power (but that was a lot lighter bike).

Am looking forward to see what happens with the Mille….Am keeping all old bits so can change it back if it doesn’t feel right.

Have no confidence with the tyre’s fitted - Metzeler Rennsport’s. I know weathers not good but the front feels like it will go if you’re not careful - or just could be me getting used to the new bike! I’ll probably fit some Michelin Pilot Road 2ct when these wear.

Craig, checkout your rear dog bone link and make sure it's not seized up like mine was. :thumbup

This is what I found when I stripped the rear suspension down - Click Me

I too had major issues with a hard ride and the bike was way too tall for me.

Cheers amb67

Good job you checked yours when you did, that looked pretty nasty….

To be fair to the previous owner tho it is something you wouldn’t check in a normal service….but it certainly gives food for thought - any badly exposed parts should be given a thorough check every so often.

My Mille is a 57 with only 1000 miles on the clock so fingers crossed bearings should be still new….but again until you look you never know!!
