too tall

I have an RSVR that is just a tad too tall for my 5'8" frame. I'm on the balls of my feet and would like to get flat. Is there an adjustment on this bike to do that and if so, is it too complicated for a novice or can I do it with a few simple tools?

I'm The same height as you, you just get used to it. The only bike I've ever owned that I got both feet flat on the floor was a vfr400.

Isn't there a "ride height" adjuster on the Ohlins shock? :dunno

I had to adjust mine as the guy I bought the bike from was about 6ft 6 whereas I'm only about 5ft 10!

I'm only 5.6 you can drop the suspention but it will change the handleing, try and perservier its surprising how quickly you get used to it, its all about confidence.:)

i'm 6 ft and have never owned a bike where i could get both feet flat on the floor. Tip toes is fine as long as the handling is good and i like it high at the back

Ask AMB67 lol :doug:doug:doug:doug

Seriously lower the rear but dont forget to lower the front aswell.

I agree it takes a bit of getting used to, I thought the Sv was high but the Mille is balls of the feet high for me,not really a problem till you want to paddle the thing around sometimes.

I don't fancy dropping the suspension so I'm considering looking for a subframe to mod. I prefer to be in rather than on a bike.:dunno

i'm 5,10 and when i first got my bike it had been lowered pretty much as low as it would go and i still couldn't really stand with two feet flat on the floor.
I've had the suspension properly set up now and i'm tip toeing all the time now. Pain in the arse when your going through town by fook it's worth it for the handling compared to what it used to be.
My advice is get used to it. You'll regret messing about with it if you change it..

But if you really feel the need to, on the RSVR with the sachs suspension you need to take the shock out of the bike and adjust the bolt at the bottom. Do'nt get it confused with the rebound, You can also lower it by adjusting the spring.... You'll regret it though

Simples folk, you can either wear high heels when riding the bike or have your seat padding reduced and recovered.

Not telling which one I choose. :nana

a small idea might be getting your seat re foamed very thinly if you dont mind the bumps.. you could prob take nearly 1 inch of at a guess...

i was fortunate enough to have been put in a grow bag as a youngster and am now reaping the rewards, both feet on the floor no worries, 6'1"

Blimey............ funnily enough what that shows is how bike design has changed, much more sit on rather than in, and how fookin fat most bikes are, a legacy of old skool four pots / UJMC. I could do it on the street trip R, similar height to RSV and I'm zackly six foot. Mind you it was a skinny little thing.:thumbup

For those who are erm definitely on the small side, monsters are low slung, also the SV 650 (I could practically get the feet to touch underneath on one of those). Having said that I've known someone who is 5ft 4 (female) manage on a trailie, she just leaned it down on one side at the lights etc. Bit of a pain though, forget just once and you're in a heap.

There's massive adjustment in the ohlins, my Falco had apparently been set up for a dwarf with a passion for off roading, and we lifted the rear height massively. Its easy to lower, to minimise the effect of that on the ride you'd prolly have to compensate (possibly by bringing the forks up through the yoke).

You can always spend $240 at AF1 for a Metisse Lowering Kit...

Otherwise, make sure you measure the ride height & fork angle before shortening up the rear shock. Then slide the fork tubes up & lower the front end to match. If you aren't sure, pay somebody who knows what they are doing as you can mess up the excellant handling.

Just let the air out of the tyres, problem solved ! ha ha

I`m only 5 foot 6.5" and on my 03 model can get both feet flat no probs, just call me Legs 2
