To Optimate or not?

It's a new battery though. ??
I can't disconnect the battery as instructed as the Meta alarm will just pack up and I'll never get the bike started in spring.
This is very strange.

So should I leave it connected as it states that the float charge of 13.6v will still be maintained. Then in spring get a new battery anyway?

Maybe best to leave it fitted then if the alarm is going to play up. Personally I would bin the alarm, more trouble than they are worth IMO.

Are the charging leads connected properly to the battery? If the terminals are dirty or a bad connection with the leads it will cause the sensed voltage to be lower and give you this reading. Could also be that the alarm is drawing just enough current for it to sense the difference.

The connections for the charger lead are solid and stay on permanently.
The start button kill is in so all that can be running is the Meta alarm and the fitted immobiliser.
For the first couple of days the lights were both green and then the Desulphate test started and red is how it ended.

Mine started doing that when the battery was on the way out. Try disconnecting and unplugging the optimate and then reconnercting, it may be ok

Double greens so far!

Did what you said Nik, unplug and switch off at wall for 10 minutes. Switch back on and plug in then the Optimate went straight into Desulphate mode and I've just checked it 3 hours later and it's in double green mode.
Fingers crossed it stays that way, cheers.
