Tilt Switch

Has anyone else siliconed up their tilt switch, under the seat?

If so is it easy to do. Is the switch a sealed unit? Also how do you stop yourself sealing in the tilted position?

Have heard about this mate..but never seen the job done :confused Is there not just a way of bridging the circuit and removing the switch all together??

Well if the tilt switch only operates under designed conditions then its simple cobber...keep the ****** upright :biggrin

Why do you wanna do that mate :confused:confused

Because, I have fitted a BTX 14 battery, which meant I had the modify the battery tray and do away with the palstic mount. It is now zip tied to the frame. When I was having my bike Dyno'ed on Friday they said if I pull a wheelie with it where it is then it will cut out.

I am no great wheelie puller, but it was enough to worry me. They said I need to silicone it up.:thumbup

well i would say drill a 10mm hole in the top and pump the silicon in, makin sure the bike is upright, but to be honest im not sure, i reckon the best thing to do is PM Spoonz cause that bloke knows everythin about Aprilia,s :thumbup

If its anything like the Suzuki unit, you can open it up to do it. Make sure the ring is in the middle.

OMG I fell over:

The Suzuki system can be defeated with a resistor. The ECU needs to "see" the TOS and know it's there as well as checking if it's tripped or not. (0.25 V < or = sensor voltage < 4.85 V)

Dan see your Pm's

The Aprilia tilt switch has a a built in resistor that the ecu needs to see or it will throw an efi warning. you just to remove the switch and fit a resistor to match instead to fool the ecu.

Personally i wouldn't do it as your fuel pump will continue to run in a crash which is not a great scenario if you have a fuel leak. not only that but a bike on it's side revving it nuts off.

Just mount the switch somewhere else.
