This is his first review of it :thumbup Legzr1 is a top fella and what he says can be taken pretty much as gospel ...
Da da daaaaaa.....
Quick review (only got 125 miles on it and engine is really tight).
Engine : still really tight.Turbocharged Massey Ferguson.Loud,loud clutch,loud exhaust,loud intake noise,just loud ok?
How the fook this thing is Euro III compliant i'll never know.
Handling :
.Still needs bedding in but quick steering (for a Ducati),still holds a line beautifully but a little closed-throttle understeer (easily sorted).
Fully fueled feels far lighter than the ZX10 at very low speeds then feels like a 250 stroker at speed.
Brakes : FOOKING HELL
- little two-finger *** seriously nearly had me over the bars - my wrists are fooked after today. At one point (missing a give way while looking for a garage) it had my arse off the seat and both feet off the pegs at the same time.
Clutch : heavy, hydraulic and horrendously noisy - thankfully the lever is adjustable so that will be getting fettled today.
Comfort : Errrrr,nope.
Build quality : Ohlins stuff oozes quality, rest of the bike is nothing special (not what you'd expect for this sort of money).Stone chipped already.
Mirrors : atrocious - blurred views of shoulders don't help on roads infested with police.Kit comes with mirror extenders which will be fitted asap (Bike comes with loads of extras - need to go back in a car to pick everything up - only managed to take the (400 page !!) owners manual with me.
Overall : I'm well happy - it's got all the good parts of the 9** series without the faults - thoroughly sorted machine.I can only imagine what the motor will be like once I can use full throttle/revs - put it this way - yesterday,6000 rpm max and no more than 1/4 throttle and I had a blast - very, very deceiving engine. You can feel it pull but it's nothing like the kick in the arse of an inline 1000cc bike at high revs.
You think "yeah, this isn't bad but..." then all of a sudden you're at the next corner going 30 mph quicker than you thought.
So
that's why they fitted monobloc Brembos
Gonna take some getting used to but I think i'm gonna love this bike.
DDA (Ducati data aquisition) could be a bit of liability - records everything including speed, lap times, gear, throttle position, traction control activation etc etc - a copper with a usb memory stick could get you 5 years in prison.
Last point(s).
(i) Is this bike worth a 2008 ZX10R plus £8500?
No way.
(ii) Do I care?
No,nah,nope
