Think I have a Charging Problem

Hey guys,

Well, couple of issues recently. Firstly, every now and again when in 2nd gear at about 4k rpm, and I roll it on, it seems to what i can only explain as misfire/cough/choke momentarily. The only think that has changed recently is the exhaust for a titanium leo vince race item. Could the fueling be out slightly now?

Secondly, just went to start it and the it wouldn't turn over properly the first few times, then displays reset, then it turned over fine. Started it up and flicked to the voltage reading on dash, displays around 13.6 running, but when its revved, it goes down. If anything I though the volts would go up and the alternator works harder? Have I got a charging issue here? What should I check next?

Bikes a 2003 RSV Mille.

Thanks in advance,

Anthony

The coughing and spluttering will not be due to your new can but get your CO and TB's set up by someone who knows RSV's anyway. (Well worth the £25)

Sounds like your battery is duff mate, 13.6V isn't enough at idle, need at least 13.8V. Could also be a starter solenoid on its way out too, do the battery first and see if that cures the starting issues.

forget what the dash says there never right if your worried gat a multi meter out and test the battery that way

Yea just had multimeter on the battery, 12.7 not running, 13.7-14.01 running. Think its okay, just because the bikes been on short runs for last month or so, so doesn't really get a chance to charge.

I'm getting a full service of Griff in Oct, so hopefully he'll be able to set up CO and tb's. I can live with it until then!

Thanks,

Anton
