Lambretta scooters may not be as well known as Vespa is here in the United States, but one quick look at their design, and you will instantly conjure up visions of speeding around Italian streets and sipping coffee. Mild mannered, there isn’t anything too assuming about the Lambretta. That is, unless it has a 2-stroke 250cc KTM motor attached to it.

This over-powered Lambretta has been prepared by UK firm*DAC-Tek, who’ve *upgraded the scooter’s stock 150cc, 9bhp engine and bolted on a 250cc, two-stroke KTM smoker that makes 45hp. That’s a 5x return, can your 401(k) match that?

DAC-Tek has also upgraded the Lambrettas the wheels, tires, and brakes. With the extra power, the bike will need a front disc brake instead of the stock hub unit. There is also a modified the four-speed gearbox to suit the KTM engine’s power delivery. True to form though, the chassis has stayed stock.

The scooter will loft the front-wheel in first gear, and generally make old ladies hate you. If you vibe the retro look, you can place an order for the Lambretta from hell, but its going to cost you*about £10,000 (US$16,000). Or you can get a Ducati Streetfigther for the price. The choice is yours.
