I know alot of you lads and lasss here do not approve of baglux covers, but i use my bikes for touring and require a tank bag, and also in just 400 miles the black tank is already showing signs of marking by leathers(perhaps not a good choice of colour). can any of you tell me if the tanks on all rsv 2000 to 2007 are all the same shape and size. i have been in touch with baglux today and they don't as yet have a colour match for the bike. they have forwarded my picture to baglux in france to see what the best match will be. the rep in wales said that all rsvs' are the same and it is just a point of matching a colour from a previous year that may have been the same colour as my tank. they seem to think that any year cover will fit ok. do any of you lads know if this is correct. i don't want them to tell me tomorrow that the same colour was used on say a 2002 bike and that will fit only to descover that when it arrives the tanks are completly different shapes and sizes. many thanks and appologies for beeing a sad sod with a tank cover.

Hello mate the tanks are all different sizes as per 99-00 01-03 and then 04 onwards is which you have I know there is a tank cover on ebay but thats for a 2001

cheers sharky. the more i have looked the more evident it is they are all different. the one i think it is has the correct graphics but the girl at baglux said the side graphic is a purplish Grey. and doesn't seem to think its right from the photo i sent her. they also do a plain black which would be another option. i may suggest they send me the one with the graphic and i see what it looks like, as long as they don't mind me sending it back if it's wrong. see what they say tomorrow.

Try getting some venture shield to stop you tank marking, brilliant stuff. You should just be able to buy the tank kit

Also rather than baglux have you looked at the latest oxford humpback strap on tankbags?

cheers legs never seen that before, looks interesting. has anyone here had this fitted. and does anyone know how much it is to have it done

Two buddies of mine have had it done to their bikes, a ZX12r and new Fazer 1000. It's about £35 for a tank kit. It's very easy to apply it yourself and is virtually invisable once applied. It stops your inner thighs and knees rubbing away at the laquer hence the marks you are seeing on your tank. Those marks will polish out but it is bloody annoying hence the fitting of the tank protector kit.

An interestiing fact was it was developed by the US military during the Gulf war and was fitted to Apache attack helicopter's carbon fibre rotor blades to stop the sand particles wearing them away !

had a look at the patterns. does the tank kit only cover the two side cheeks, as mine is also showing slight scuffing on top of the tank infront of the filler. i wondered if the kit does the top of the tank as well. i may ring one of the companies tomorrow, am interested in finding out what gets covered by the full kit. it doesn't appear to do much of the side fairings, mudguard, and tail unit. hopefully find out more tomorrow.:thumbup

The tank kits that i've seen include both sides of the tank and a cut out similiar to a tank pad that fits in front of the seat up to the fuel filler cap

cheers legs just spoke to a supplier, and have ordered the full bike kit. dosn't cover quite everything. just designed to cover anything that faces forward, to protect from stone chips, and knee marks in the tank. will see what it's like when it arrives

The kits are easy to fit, just follow the instructions carefully. You'll need a squirty bottle, a cup full of water, 3 or 4 drops of baby shampoo and a plastic credit card type applicator.

Couple of tips, make sure the bike is spotless before you put the venture sheild on i.e no dust, polish marks etc...Spray lots of solution ( baby shampoo / water ) on the bike before putting a particular piece of venture shield on. Don't get fingerprints on the back of the venture shield as they'll show ( wear surgical gloves ). Get rid of all the air bubbles before solution dries with applicator, just keep working it. If you find you need to move a piece just lift the edge and squirt more solution. :thumbup
