Hi folks, am planning laying the bike up soon, as my lock up doesn't have power in it is it ok to take the battery out and keep it on a tender at the house or will it bugger up the clocks if disconnected, i'm sure i read somewhere that it could zero the mileage on the clocks!!!!!.
Cheers Jim.

thats a new un on me jocky boy, but saying that the longest mines ben laid up without any power was 6 weeks.

Disconnecting the battery won't cause any problems as you have to do that to change it etc, not sure about leaving it for a period of time without a battery in though. I'm sure Batfastard or Nob will be along soon with the answer.

Hahahahahahahahahahhahhahahahhahahhahahahahahaha

I don't think it will do any harm, they sit in dealers with either no battery or a flat one for weeks on end. If it were me I'd put some leads on the bikes battery and plug a donor battery in for a few hours every now and then. Or just go down and test the battery with a meter, if its draining charge it. Should be ok unless its got a fancy alarm on though.

Ahv never bothered wi chargers or the like ower winters. All ma bikes sit oot in garage an if nay ridin it much cos o the snaw or away for weeks wi work ah just periodicaly go in an start her up and run it for a wee whiley till warmed up. An as a try tae drive nae matter the weather the odd run in betwen helps tae. Never had flat batt probs ever.

Hud mair probs wi cars!!!

they come from the factory with no battery on and then sit in the showroom for months on end with no battery on
so nothing to worry about

owd jocky could have a point though..
i,ve been in the garage for hours on end, and often wondered who i was when i came out.

Done the same garry but i've wondered whit am i and where am i.

Always got an answer for the whit part but never to sure aboot the where.

AFAIK it's the "reset" caused by trying to start a bike on a low battery that blanks the dash, it's ot really an issue. Quite a few of the Gen 2's have had replacement clocks because of the fogging issues, so don't worry about it.
