any ideas for a reasonably priced tail tidy? Dont really want to fork out £40 on one, and dont want to cut down the OEM.

Go to B&Q and get a strip of ally and bend it in to an L shape (x2 off) and drill them using the old tail tidy to mark out the spacing and then use some double sided foam trim tape to stick the number plate on to the ally fr a neater look

Yeah i understand that mkw :thumbup, any local dealer can order one and it can be picked up from there. Simple really

thanks all - R&G looks quite nice, also just found my Paypal account had some cash in it from some previous ebay sales, so might stretch to that now!

Sorry matt, i wasn't in anyway putting your suggestion down as reading my post back it appears that way, i was just showing the best option

Pretty sure I have the R&G one on mine well worth spending getting the right part:thumbup

Got an Evotech one on mine - can't remember how much it cost at the time but it may be an alternative

What about buying a used OEM mounting off eBay and cutting it down? Has anyone done this as I reckon it would look OK.

I thought about the oem-couldnt see any on the bay, but aprilia parts list looks like its only about 15 quid. Only problem would be that if it was cut down, to use the mounting holes the plate would sit higher and guess it might bounce around a bit? Going to stick with am aftermarket one and post pics when its fitted and have straightened out my pipes! :)

I have an R&G tail tidy and honestly feel it was money wasted!

It didn't really make any difference at all.

If you have £40 you won't miss, then don't worry, but otherwise I'd keep the cash.

I have just cut down an original number plate mount (bought off fleabay for £15) and I think it looks the dogs and is nice and solid, unlike some of the aftermarket brackets. Small stick on reflector above the plate to keep it legal for MOT. Still got the original mount for when it comes to selling.

Will post a picture later.
