As you know i went out on the new T the other day :) one think i could not fatham was the suspension. At first i thought it might be too firm up front and too soft at the rear err so to say. Then after a while and on more twisty roads it felt diferent but not right if that makes sense. My guess is someone has changed these settings, does anyone know the standard starting point so i can put it back and try to resolve this?

Take the bike to a PROPER suspension specialist, and get it set up. AF1Windy and I both had our factories done last spring, best £20 you will ever spend.
If you want to **** about yourself (you will still be fiddling when hell freezes over) download the manual - links in common mods section.

Luigi at the factory in Noale doesn't appear to bother setting the suspension, Our two bikes were wildly different, mine very hard on the rear and too soft front, Martin's was the opposite.

On the R model the standard rear unit is a POS even the Sachs unit from an RSVR is an improvement (at the right price) fit an Ohlins or equivalent - Manxton, Penske etc. The front forks are OK, if you want to go mad you can fit Ohlins internals.

I limp along okay on my poor R model, but if a good quality Ohlins or the like was to come along...

It will transform the bike. the back end on a Tuoldo is lively as the Sachs units on those are a bit harsh, but they really scraped the bottom of the parts bin with the Gen 2 unit. It overheats and effectively stops damping after a while, prior to that it is really harsh and makes the back end skip over bumps. Living in Lincolnshire as I do, most of my riding is bumpy B roads, I fitted the Ohlins unit for the Factory model to Liz's Tuono within a few months of getting it, it now feels as good as the Factory until you start really pushing the front end (trackday) then the forks let you down a bit.

Good look finding a cheap unit, they are about £425 new when they come up at proper money, but often sell well over £250 used.

Cheers Paul, I have the Gen 2 and do feel the susp lets it down quite a bit. It can still hustle, but I know it can be better. I've been outbid on a couple on ebay before, still looking & fingers crossed.

might sound a bit obvious pikey but check your tyre pressures are ok too !

I spent around $1200 on mt 2007 T's suspension last year.

Ohlins internals up front, an Ohlins shock off of a Factory in the back.

Being a FF (200 lbs with full gear) I'm a bit too heavy for the spring and
as a result I'll get a slight weave at times of spirited cornering. But other
than that the upgrade was amazing. I'd go for the forks first, it made such
a difference.

I have a heavier spring that should solve that. I'll post up details later

Trust me - you don't want to do that. If you shove Ohlins internals in the forks you wind up with a lovely plush compliant true tracking front end with a pogo stick for a rear. The front will write cheques the rear can't cash. Prepare a bed for Mr Highside.

Do the rear first, then the front or both together.

The standard suspension settings are all in the owners handbook.Waste of time fiddling with the rear shock,it really is a POS.

See pickey what did I say when u were asking all those questions. Get a Gen 1 racing model. All the kit for a fraction of the cost of a Gen 2 factory.

I changed the pos rear shock on my Gen 2 after about 500 miles - for a s/h Ohlins shock off ebay. Paid nearly £300 for it but it has virtually no marks on it and looks like new. I had to set the rebound up as it was rebounding too fast but it really is worth the cash, improves the handling no end. It's still a tad harsh for me, but at just under 11 stone I probably need a softer spring.

Btw, Bay has a Gen1 Racing in case anyone wasn't sure...........

I'm booked in to Griffs in Tamworth on the 11th for a service and install of sat nav wire. You would do far worse than taking a ride out to his gaff ... 10 mins with him and your head will burst with knowledge.
