Today i have been looking at my suspension as when out it feels too soft on the rear.

Anyway i went back to standard settings. However according to the manual it states that the overall rear shock length should be 147mm from top nut to bottom but mine is around 120mm and there is no way its going to be 147! Is this a miss print in the manual?

Also no matter how much i adjust the damping for rider sag i can not get close to the recommended 30mm mine is around 40mm and it does no change.

I started with 25 turns anticlockwise from the fully clockwise preload and then adjusted this to stiffen it up, i also reduced the spring length again to stiffen it up. At the start i have 50mm with no load on the back wheel (50mm between two known marks) then with the bike on the back wheel (static sag) this goes down to 48mm, then with me on it its 43.5. Now i have only managed to get this figure to 44.2mm with me on it and the preload now 12 turns back from the fully clockwise position even with it fully clockwise its just the same!

What am i doing wrong that does not allow me to get to a rider sag of 30mm am i simply too fat!

The rear does now feel stiffer so i will give it a try and see. Also should my tool kit have a c spanner for adjusting the spring??

Cheers

I was being a numpty when i read the manual again yes mine is now at 145mm spring length after adjusting so i will see what like it is now.

Also reading into this it would appear that its my weight that is exceeding the preload of the shocker as i can go fully clockwise ie maximum preload and it still exceeds 40mm of rider sag.

I've put an Ohlins shock with a heavier spring on mine. I've also had the forks revalved and all set up by Reactive suspension in York. Its totally transformed the bike.

Might need to get something done on mine then, bike feels better with the new settings i have changed to had a day of playing with it today does feel better, still got the front on standard settings and it feels not too bad.

Will just have to hunt around and see if there is anyone up my way that sets the suspension up.

Stoney was it a factory ohlins you fitted??

Cheers
