Suspension See Sawing ????

Hi Folks

I test rode a Capo 1200 today

I was expecting great things from it.....but there were a couple of niggles

1. Around corners the bike felt like it was see sawing in the suspension between front and back

2. The back tyre suddenly dropped round a corner, which felt really disconcerting. The bike had a very worn Back tyre which was down to the tread depth indicator

My question is....Can these two issues be fixed?

Cheers Andy

Old thread..... just passing by....... for the record, the suspension may have been set to solo rider and soft (I haven't had my Capo12 for 3yrs so I forget the damping choices)..... but if the rear tyre was the oem 180/55 profile then regardless of tread depth, the tyre was too small and at high lean angles the bike would slip off the edge of the tread (and grind the stand or the pegs). The fix here was a 190/55 on that 6" rim....... no more running off the edge of the tyre and way less contact with the ground over bumps mid corner........ also, setting the suspension to manual 1+lgge or 2riders was best for sporty riding as the auto system could not predict bumps coming, only react after hitting them, so it was best for touring or highway comfort....... but it was still pretty good for the era.

It may be that there was a problem with the suspension too - it had a lot of sensors and it was a gas+oil shockie so just like all other bikes servicing/wear issues may be a factor as these bikes are all used bikes by now (production of the TP version ended around 2015-16 and the Rally limped on until 2017 if I recall correctly). Lovely bike, pity Aprllia ran away from the complaints instead of persisting with the design and evolving the model.

History now....... but at the time the 1200TP was ahead of the pack (except for the motor) with cruise control and the best auto suspension by a long way ;).
