Sump plug help

Guys I've rounded off my sump plug, what's the best way of getting it out?

So far I've tried hammering a bigger star drive in but its gone like soft cheese.
 
Be careful bashing the sump you might crack it,if you have a Mig welder push a bolt into the rounded plug and tack it in place,then use a spanner on the bolt head :thumbup
 
There are specially designed sockets available for this issue. I have researched this in detail as i managed to round my sump bolt on the car recently and need a set. Screwfix do them for about £20
 
Tp. ... I have a set of the "tightening" sockets.... I will check in the morn that I have the rite size... & can post it on to you.

Take it you mean the bolt in the oil tank ?

Or jus confirm the normal socket size...

Think it depends upon what your sump plug is to be able to use those ie a hex bolt type plug not a female hex or torx
 
Yeah its the filter drain plug, I will pop round the workshops here and see if they will do it for me.
 
Changed my oil back in January & I got the feeling mine was gonna round off too. Allen key wasn't a very tight fit, so I switched to an impact driver bit (with a socket on the end of it) twas a much better fit & it came out ok. Glad I did !

Hope it's an easy fix tp. ..
 
those plugs are like cheese mate and after rounding one off myself I now find it easier to loosen it prior to warming the oil up
 
I hope so Felix, I've just aquired an extractor set from the fitters so will give that a go before wheeling it round to the workshops fingers crossed.
 
Looks like it's M12x1.5 and 12mm long and after a little checking it's the same as the 1000cc Honda fireblade which is not probably made of cheese :yes
