Always pissin down with rain Sussex
Went for a blast today on the Ape & my mate was leading on his CBR1000 got up to silly speeds, then when we slowed down for a roundabout his steering went all weird, pulled over & his tyre had gone down to about 16psi. Limped to the café called the RAC thought he'd got a puncture but when they came out & inflated it there was nothing wrong & he got home without the pressure dropping. This is a new Battlax hypersport S20F which has only been on there a week as the previous identical tyre had done exactly the same thing but had deflated on two occasions & was taken into the bike shop where they said there was a thorn in the tyre (which I don't believe now) & replaced it with this one.

Anyone any ideas as it doesn't inspire confidence

Yeah the bike is only a couple of years old & he keeps it mint, had a look round the rim when checking for punctures & there's not even so much as a tyre lever mark on them.

It could have a defect on the inside though. When the tyre gets hot the pressure will increase and a small defect may cause the bead to give and release the pressure.

It could also be a faulty valve, the same thing would happen when the tyre gets hot. Was the valve changed when the tyre was?

There have been instances reported where the centrifugal force of the wheel actually 'throws' the valve open.
I'm not so sure myself....but I do believe in aliens and ghosts

Slight nick in the powder coating?

Happened to a mate of mine but he was flat out down Bray hill manxgp on an Sp1 took him till quarter bridge to come to a halt after having the mother of all tank slippers that bent his ohlins steering damper.

Only thing they could find was a tiny little nick in the powder coating everything else looked good.

My mate had this on an RGV250 after a flat out sprint (125mph). pumped it back up and it was good as gold forever more.
