Strong gasoline smell

Hi Guys,

For the last two days I have noticed a strong gasoline smell. I've checked for leaks bug found none and tonight I smell inside the exhaust and bingo, the smell comes from there. I've had a Yoshi can since I bought it and never noticed that smell before. Is it running rich?

Take your spark plugs out and have a look, black is rich, white'ish is lean and a nice light brown is just right.
You could take it to a dyno centre for a run and they will tell you if the fueling is OK :thumbup

It could simply be the warm weather causing your tank to expand and the fumes to expel from the overflow pipe. I always have this problem when I fill the bike on a hot day. It can even end up dripping from the pipe.

Dont overfill basically.

Well, the strong smell happens to be a rather large leaking at the bottom of the tank, the part which is closer to the seat :confused. Will take it to the garage and hope it won't be too expensive to fix it. :pirate

Just had a similar thing on my commuter hack ZZR-1100.

Went to fill up the tank ready for work tomorrow, filling away merrily and wondered what was splashing on my leg - turned out to be petrol! Ended up loosing 15 litres of fuel across the garage forecourt due to a split hose to the fuel tap - bollocks!

hi mate you could have crushed the braided fuel line ive done this twice on mine you have to be very carefull if when you lift the tank not to squash the pipe when dropping the tank back down £10 quid from a breaker useally sorts it
