HI mate once it as primed for the first time if you to start it the pump will prime again

Hi all still the same when im starting it the pump is repriming and a relay is clicking. the relay number is 12v NO RC-2208 MITSUBA 04E

i think you need to give us a bit more information alrightnow.

You've fitted a new YTX14BS battery and you charged it before you put it on the bike ?

You then switch on the ignition and you can hear the fuel pump prime ?

You then hit the starter button and all you hear is a relay clicking ?

Hi Legs, fitted new battery when i press the starter button the fuel pump primes and also the relay clicks, it does this every time i try to start her up

Sounds like your starter relay may be faulty mate.

Firstly you need to check that all your terminals are tight and clean, make sure that the thick red cable that goes on the starter motor is secure first, checked mine last week and it had come loose.

As AMB says, sounds like the starter relay is at fault. Check the terminals are tight as AMB suggest

One question to clear up though alrightnow. You say that when you press the starter button, the fuel pump primes and the relay clicks?

The fuel pump should prime when you first turn on the ignition, not when you hit the starter button. You'll hear a whirring noise. Can you confirm this happens.

If it does, then when you press the starter button you hear lots of clicks then it's a faulty starter relay or battery and as you've replaced the battery then it has to be the starter solenoid. You can double check by turning on the ignition and quickly bridging the 2 starter solenoid terminals with a screwdriver. You'll see a few sparks but if the engine turns over you've found the fault. Replace with a Yamaha solenoid. Part number 4KD81940-00 about £29 from any yamaha dealer

hi,
the pump primes when i turn the key but also does again every time i press the starter and the relay click as well

Did you have this problem before you changed the battery :confused if not, then check all the wiring around where you've been working (tight connections/plugs etc) or if that doesn't work try re-fitting your old battery and see if the problem disappears.

Hi tried all connections everything seems ok tried the old battery back in just the same ordered a new relay give that a try when it comes :dunno
