Riding to work this morning in near zero temperatures I noticed the throttle suddenly getting sticky - I put it down to something (other than my knuckles) freezing. However a post-work ride in warmer (everythings relative, right?) temperatures and the throttle's still sticking - quite handy on the motorway, but "challenging" on the greasy back roads. There doesn't seem to be any return force on the throttle at all, you set it in a position and it stays there.

I haven't had much of a chance to poke around this evening, so I'm looking for some pointers; what should I look for? Sticky twist-grip or cables, broken return spring, something else? :dunno

I hadn't noticed any problem until about 15 minutes into my ride this morning, so it's almost as though somethings broken whilst on the move. :rant

Disassemble the right clip on it takes about 10min to get everything apart. Then youll see whats wrong.

If the clipon is bend, throttle tends to stick (youll se the marking) or the return spring or it just needs to be lubed, but the not-lubed option is not likely.

Make sure that you have enough freeplay on the throttle, as too little or nothing at all can make the throttle stick.

Thanks Dolenc, I'll take a look. Don't think the bars bent (I've had the bike for a couple of years now, never had a sticking throttle before) so a spot of lube might be the answer. It was bloody cold today...

Good thing for lubing is something called BALLISTOL lube, its meant for greasing guns... But works great on a mille :D

We use Ballistol at work...great stuff, and good for a million other uses :thumbup
