Sticky Throttle after storage, plus chain advise pls

Following the winter months I charged up the battery of my 09 Whitie; Started ok And I left it 5 minutes to warm it up.

Blipped the Throttle and rather than returning to Idle it stuck revving at 4k.


What "home maintenance friendly" checks can I do?, Bar end off?

Can I take the cover off the throttle without anything pinging up out of it?


Anything that'll either help me remedy it, or narrow down the possibilities would be nice.


PS - what replacement chain would anyone recommend

Why not WD40?Its recommended in the advert.

Rickster,are you saying the throttle would'nt return fully when you let go? Not too tricky to remove the twist grip from the bars.Take the bar end off first.You could just try and squirt some wd40 between the bars and throttle tube,.....and while yer at it,give the throttle linkage on the injectors a squirt too.Lube the cables as above.
 
Hi Rickster,had the same throttle issue on mine a few weeks ago,took the throttle top off,nothing pinged out, used the dreaded wd40 kept on working the throttle back and forth ,cleaned up the scungy crap that appeared ... all good.. simples :thumbup
