Well, I wired the funds to pay for the 2004 RSV1000R I won on e-bay last month. If all goes as planned, it will be loaded up in California on the 22nd and arrive here in Virginia...whenever.

In the meantime, all this nervous bridegroom can do is google images of my new bike, read these forums, and plan my mods and cosmetic changes.

So, to the question: are the stickers/decals on this model clear-coated over, or can they just be peeled off?

I'm looking at the paint/graphics scheme on the 2005 model and considering it. The great big black Aprilia lion over the red fairing looks kinda cool. Is that paint or a huge sticker?

My 2002 had a laquer over the stickers but i know others didnt so its a wait and see job on that one mate, i dont know why some were and some were'nt but the lions head is a decal mate, if you are looking for decals a member on here does them, his name is Oli, his reputation is very good and replicates the stickers at a fraction of the cost of Original Aprilia :thumbup

Well, since the bike arrived Tuesday, I can answer my own question. The decals on the tank, front fairing and tail section are clear-coated over. The ones on the side fairing, tail-piece cover and front mudguard are not.

I've removed the latter. Anyone ever tried to remove the ones under clear coat without damaging the paint?

hi mate, you won't be able to remove the stickers/decals under the clear coat without damaging it. As soon as the clear coat has been chipped or cut into, the weather in time will make the rest flake off. So if u are going to remove those stickers you will either have to clear coat first and stick the decals on top or replace decals and put fresh clear coat over the top an u will need to buy decals that can be painted over if that is what you want to do? Hope this helps.

where can i find this oli?

Just send a PM to oli or look at December's bike of the month post and you will see an white mille with gold graphics, that's his bike. Look further down the post and you will see his reply and just click pm :thumbup
