How the hell do you get that thing off?!?!

I didn't have a 14mm so I made one out of a bolt I found and a couple of nuts tightened together, but I snapped it. Righty-tighty, lefty-loosey, right??

I'm getting an actual 14mm hex today after work but do I need an impact gun?

Can I damage the steering head/bearings with my removal attempts?

Will I throw it out of adjustment?

The reason I ask is because I lowsided and broke my left clip on. Need to remove the top of the triple clamp to get the broken clip on off and the replacement on.

I've never done this before, my front end wont drop off will it???

Thanks,
Jon

Just use the 14mm hex to undo the top nut make sure your steering is fully on the left stop obviously. THere is 1 screw on each clip on clip on securing and setting the angle that u need to remove. THen the pinch bolts. Download the manaul on here if u dont know what your doing. u will need to take the choke and clutch lever off as well.

No the forks wont drop unless you release the triple clamp bolts on the fork legs. You wont mess up any adjustment either. You may need a mechanical sympathy bypass to undo the nut though.

Thanks guys! I borrowed a 14mm hex and got it off with the assistance of a cheater bar.

Man, a gorilla tightened that bolt! Whew!
