steering head bearings-choices?

H folks, well..after 53k miles my steering head bearings need replacing:rant any one know what the cost is for oe parts and wether there are any alternatives?..also fancy respringing my showas whilst the front end is out, any experiences on ohlins or WP springs? or heavier oil too?

Some people go for taper bearing replacement, but I didn't like this option. I think you need spacers made up for this route anyway.

You can get the standard bearing much cheaper than Aprilia. I found the cheapest supplier was Simply Bearings Ltd in Warrington. They are not supplied by many bearing suppliers and the ones you want are two sets of SF07A22PXI NTN. They cost me less than £40 posted and arrived the next day.

Kawasaki is the other option.

It think it's the zzr models and Zxr that use the same part and it's half the Aprilia price from them
