Hi,

Want to buy a steering damper for my 2007 RSV1000R. Ohlins list a few on their website that have a different stroke/length. SD121 - SD140 etc?

Which do I need?

Thanks

Why would you need a steering damper!!!????? I've owned an R6 (early model) which supposidly was an animal......bollox it was a ***** (TM Sharky) an RSV doesn't really need one despite the Factory models coming with one fitted as standard...save yer money for some naughty person pipes!!!

I did a 6 hour endurance race on a 98 R1 and snapped the steering damper off! Tought me how to ride smoothly after a tank slapper or two put it that way!

Thanks for the advice - There is one on e-bay - I am going to bid on it and hope for the best

I had a damper on my 99 R1 as she wanted to shake her head at all times, however my RSVR has never even tried it no matter how badly it is ridden and thats with 15/42 gearing!!

I am a Novice rider and a little nervous about tank slap, I thought it would be the best way to go -

Does the bike want to wheelie or do you have to want the wheel to come up?

It will come up in first off of the throttle but you are talking about 8/9k!

I have an Ohlins I took of my 06 R1, not sure if it is the same stroke, and I can't check as I am away for a week, do the homework, if it is the same then it could be yours :devious only covered 5,000 miles

Bought one for mine as well

You need an SD 175 which has a 65mm stroke, which came with the fixings screws required as well. Took about 10mins to fit.

Hope this helps

Thanks mate - I have just ordered a SD175 from Performance Motorcyle Parts. How many clicks have you set your damper on?

Standard settings at the moment, as suggested on the Ohlins web site.

Found that this doesn't interfer with the feel to much, but I haven't had a chance to play since I fitted it for one reason or another

Raul,

If you live in London take time out to go and see Don or Andy at Southern Cross in Kilburn,:thumbup he will set everything up for you and advise you on anything you need. He is a top bloke:thumbup just tell him that Gary told you to speak to him.:biggrin Then after that you could pop around the 406 to Ace cafe for a brew and good food.:eatcorn If it is on a Saturday let me know and a few of us can meet:thumbup
