Very good question, in fact I have the earlier model and have previously asked if the later model damper would fit, not too much luck.
I believe there is slight differences, however had never had much luck with help on this matter..............and sorry I cant help much as well :dunno
The part no: s are different.
1998-2003: PU04140001
2004-2009: PU04140105-SD175 / OEM: 8795040
I bought mine from AF1, they list both, and state that the 2 for the 2004-2009 are exactly the same but sell the OEM for around $60:00 US cheaper.
