hi guys, i have had this problem twice now.
the normal start up procedure on my gen 1 is press the key fob indicators flash once, turn the ignition on and the fuel pump primes, needle on clocks moves and pull clutch in hey presto it starts, but
saturday, i came to start it, pressed the key fob, indicators flashed, turned the ignition on the needle moved but the fuel pump didnt prime and wouldnt start, nothing there at all just as if the immobiliser was still on.
checked the on off button, reset the alarm etc and tried several times and still didnt start. i couldnt work out why, checked fuses and for loose wires and nothing, then pressed the on off button again, reset the alarm did the procedure and it started.
it was ok for the rest of the afternoon after that.
does anybody know what the problem is or has anyone had the same thing happen.
any help would be helpful
cheers

Sounds like the engine kill switch is getting a bit faulty, might be worth swapping the RHS switchgear.
Worth a look - side stand switch causes same symptoms.

thanks mate. i had thought of the same things but thought id check with you guys who know everything before i started messing with it.
cheers

The alarm I'd say as well. My Gen 1 if I've left it for any length of time I've got to put the key in 1st and turn the ignition on and then press the alarm button. Then it'll fire up. If I don't do that the alarm won't even beep. Must kinda go into a sleep mode or Summat.

With mine I've never looked at indicators as I'm stood next to the seat. Just never goes beep. Have to leave it for about 2 to 3 weeks though. When it doesn't make a beep put key in ignition turn it on so all lights come on turn it off press alarm then it goes beep turn ignition and bam fires straight away.

Whit T you got bay, sounds like the one that goes beep bop baloulah.

Go on yer know yer want to.

Also funny u should say that. That song is my little boys favourite. My dad doesn't really know many nursery rhymes so when he was told by my mum when they baby sat to sing to him that's the song he sang. One day my little one who's nearly 3 now just came out with it and started singing it when we picked him up from theirs. To top it off his other grandfather has a rock and roll cd with It on so now we have to have it on in the car. Very funny to see him stamping his little leg in shops singin bee bopalulah she's my baby. Ps he also knows my bike and if u asked him he'd say daddy has a 53 plate Tuono racing with a new mtc exhaust on ;)

I assume that means the alarm responded?
yes mate, the alarm responded every time by flashing the indicators and also if i tried starting when the alarm was set the alarm actually went off so i assumed the alarm side of things was working but for some reason was immobilising the bike.

check out the stand switch - just short it out if you need to, it's a fairly common problem. The kill switches can also get dodgy - general advice is only to use it in emergencies rather than as a routine way of stopping the engine.

I really hate alarms on bikes, they do fook all good regards theft, and the only person they ever stop is the owner. :banghead

I think I might diconnect my alarm Batfastard. I take it its just diconnecting it from the battery. Never really looked into it and I don't leave my bike anywhere its likely to be stolen for any amount of time. Although wouldn't that affect the insurance?
