Do you wait for your bike to warm up to operating temperature before riding it? Or just wait until the flashing cold sign goes out on the dash? Obviously wouldn't rev it high until it was at normal operating temp..
There are a whole lot of differing views on this, however my local aprilia dealer recommends the best thing to do is just start it and ride, but don't rev the nuts off it until it reaches normal operating temperature. Would be interesting to see other people's views in here though. :eatcorn
Thats what I have done on previous bikes.. well ridden as soon as they can idle with the choke off. It just feels as if this bike will need a bit more tlc than my previous..
These don't have a choke it's just a fast idler, all the lever does is open the butterfly valves a bit :thumbup As above start on full "choke" back it off to a fast idle, let the oil get round for 30 seconds & ride, when up to temp, thrash :biggrin
I let mine get up to 50ish degrees, then back off the fast idle to 3000 revs then let the temp rise to 60ish degrees but only because I'd read that they should be warmed well up before riding. I know nothing!
I was under the impression the fast idle should only be used to get the engine to idle at normal levels, not hold it up at higher revs to warm it. Not sure that's so good on the engine...
Cheers for the replies.. I think I'm going to give it more TLC than my Blade. I will warm it up as much as possible without pissing off the neighbours before riding..
On the blade I used the choke until it idled ok before riding off.
