Starter Relay

pain in the *** isnt it? i use mine everyday for work so tend to start okay, but i dont do the mileage i should on it, and if left in the rain, or like u said for a few days in the garage its a pig to start, im assuming a optimiser is a 'trickle charge'? or something simular?

ah its uprated? thanx ill be getting one of those then, straight swap?

If you leave yours outside at least get a cover. I would take the bodywork off and abuse her with WD40. Check your battery connections, make sure everything is clean and tight. £40 should get you a good optimiser. Run 2 leads from your battery and secure them under your rear seat cowl. Quick and easy access to hook up your optimiser. Saves pissing about and ruining your seat.

thanx mate, might be handy me having one of those just incase my mille is left standing for a while, hoping the uprated batt and solinoid will do the trick, ive done my sprag once (which it also cracked my engine casing) so any little starter boost is a very good, and prob money saving idea :))

thanx for the info to jon, i have a garage, to be honst woulda thought twice in buying a mille if i was gunna leave it outside, as its well known italian anything is crap in our weather lol, but like the two leads idea :D

Ordered :thumbup Just got off the phone to my mate who is starting my bike for me everyday as I work away Mon - Fri, until we can get electric installed in the garage. "Jon can't start your bike" **** i thought. Told him to open the throttle again and keep the start button going until she starts. After about 10-15secs she started. Is this normal? She's going for valve clearances and service at the weekend, will be curious to see the state of the plugs. Can the starter keep taking this kind of abuse?

Jon have you done the wiring mod?? Also I didnt recognised the battery you said you got. The ones usually recommend to actually improve cold cranking power usually have a 14 not a 12 in them...??

MotoBatt QuadFlex™ MBTX12U
This particular MotoBatt QuadFlex™ battery is a MBTX12U to fit a Aprilia RSV 1000 Mille/R All Models (1999-2010), replacing the convential battery part numbers CTX12-BS, CTX14-BS. The physical characteristics of this battery are:
Battery Capacity: 14 [Ah]
CCA (-18°C): 200 [A]
Dimensions (LxWxH): 151 x 87 x 130 [mm]
Total Height: 145 [mm]
Terminals: 4
Notes: Includes 15 mm bottom spacer

Hi Steve, I have had the bike just over a week, got a new solenoid and a new battery. The battery I bought was recommended to me off people from this forum. As you can see it has CCA 200, not the highest but for the price of £40 I wasn't complaining.

No other wiring mods have been done. Yet. Anyone live near Warrington and is good with a soldering iron and has done all these mods? hehehe. Beer money? Ciggy money? Stripper money? Whatever your sins are money?

Im in Warrington and have done all the mods I have a soldering iron I could show you how to do it but my soldering skills are not good enough to be let loose on some one else's bike

I'm ashamed to say that i have never used one before. My friend used one years ago and dropped solder on his hand, must've hurt like hell cos of the noise he was making. Not really been near one since. That was 24 yrs ago. Don't mind getting my hands dirty but i'll admit i'm lost when it comes to electrics, wiring etc. Where did you buy the extra earth strap from? Or was it home-made? Really need to get my **** together on these wiring mods. Renegade airbox will have to wait. No good having all these nice things on your bike if it wont start. Do Renegade still sell that airbox? Went on their website but it's a bit of a mess. Looks outdated. Nothing on Ebay. Anyway, back to wiring mods. If I get all the stuff together, extra wiring, extra earth strap, tools etc, wouldn't mind an overseeing eye to make sure i'm doing it all right. At least I could look at your bike side to side with mine and see the difference on the wiring with my own eyes.

I have a brand new solenoid to put on. Just want to disconnect the two black wires but worries about what they are and what they might be connected to inside the wiring loom. Hopefully nothing.

My arse v r is at rocket centre blackburn having shims , new custom map and have asked them to take the ***** pain in arse spyball alarm off,all it ever did was drain battery ,eat batteries in the fob,and makes you look a cupid stunt at devils bridge when it wont start, get it of says me good luck pippip chinchin

Hi Big Jessie, yeah you are 100% correct. It has to go. It may knock a few quid of the insurance but is it worth it? Not in my book. How much are they gonna charge you for all that? Are you having it dyno'd? A few pretty pennies me thinks.

Sorry Crazy Legs but do you have the ebay link, can't seem to find it on there. Think I will be getting some off Killaprilla myself. Thanks for the offer though and will definately take you up on the lit workshop.

Aprilia Performance kits costs £120, does it have the loud induction noise of the Renegade one?
