Riding along on saturday on the rsvr 2002, when engine cuts out...after 20mins of scratching me head.i found the fuse at the front, right side, had blown, labled up.(starter),do you think theres a fault,or just a weak fuse ect,go away on the bike in few weeks,so want to make sure all is well.:dunno

Strange how the starter fuse should blow whilst riding along??

The starter circuit is not energised whilst riding, had you hit the starter button or perhaps another button?

I'll have a gander at the wiring diagrams and see if I can spot anything for you.

OK, chances are if you didn't hit any buttons etc...

Your battery terminals could be loose and this could have caused the surge?

Your ignition switch has developed a fault or perhaps has water ingress?

The terminals on the fuse were oxidised and a build up caused high resistance?

So many possibles that without looking at the bike it is virtually impossible to diagnose.

Did you have dash lights after the fuse blew?

Cheers for reply,to be honest,i think at the time of it blowing,i had just gone over a brow and the front went light.slight wheelie, quite fast,so mayme when it came down,i hit something,

mmmm..how hard is it to ripp the datatool out..is it d.i.y

Took me about half an hour to rip mine out :biggrin Just did one wire at a time and used the wiring diagrams to see what wire went where etc, and i think i had to solder a couple of wires back together but cant remember which they were now but if you follow the diagrams it's pretty obvious...maybe the inbuilt alarm cicuit wires, just linked them back together :thumbup

I ripped a Meta 357 out in around 15 mins, Datatool should be around the same.

Took me longer to make the loom good after the butcher that fitted it tore in to it. LOL

If you have taken out insurance stating it has an alarm fitted, be careful!!! You could invalidate your insurance if you remove the alarm.

Allow yourself an hour or so if your electrically competent or a day if your names Tim!! LOL (Sorry Tim but I had to mate)
