My T is in for it's first service next week. I asked the dealer to fit the 15 tooth sprocket at this time, he replied that fitting a 42 tooth rear was better because he had seen the chain cutting into the rubber chain guide & into the swing arm due to the angle the 15 tooth gives. Anyone else had this problem or is the guy just trying to sell me the goldie looking rear sprocket.

Well a lot of the guys on here say to have 15/42 set up.

Oh and the rubber chain guide is classed as a consumable ;)

T, sounds like he's blowin it oot his arse. 11k miles on a 15t and the guide looks brand new.

ower 12k oan the clocks ( ower 14k in reality due tae earlier blown speed sensor) an the front is startin tae hook...time tae change!

most of us have got the 15t sprocket on and no probs sounds like hes just after more of your beer tokens

He must be a bit of a **** or seriously missinformed or know something we don't or maybe something else,,,, but . Why would Aprilia supply as them with the Factories if that were the case ???

There is no 'need' to go to a 42t but if he is talking the right money it's bloody good fun and a fair bit smoother round town too IMO :thumbup

I'd go with the 15/42 option, the rear sprocket shouldn't be that much. Mine was 15/40 when I got it, and found slow through town/village stuff a pain, and the 15/42 made this so much smoother, and really helped the higher gears at national speed limit too.
Best thing is you don't need a chain, just the sprockets.

i am runing 15/40, but not happy with it cant pin point it but something dont feel right, i test rode a brand new standard t two yrs ago i dun 145mph no prob but on mine i cant

ff wis there a mighty wind blowing behind yer at the time. ???

Maybe he did see as described, but I would seriously doubt that it wis due to a 15t front. More likely to be a fud that jist rode the bike way past it's service, yer know whit a mean. Ffs who wid put their life on a machine waeoot even lookin at it.

I took my Tuoldo down a runway a couple of years ago and was speed trapped at 147 (152 indicated), it had 16/40 on at the time so I dont doubt that he could have seen 145 on the speedo.

A load of bollox, 15/42 is deffinately the way to go on the T and RSV. Ican supply you with a Renthal C&S kit for £135 + £6.99 delivery includes Renthal front sprocket, Renthal hard anodised rear and Renthal R4 SRS gold chain(all sprocket sizes)

Cheers Mark

ah kin defo vouch fur the 15/42 combo....its a must do mod in my book!

r, whit aboot Gash, should we buy his wares???

He seems very sure of which direction to take, buy this from me ya fuds.

No doubt if yer wanted to do anythink else, that would also be the way to go.

Nice to see yer postin again Gash. :thumbup

Well some one come and follow me on a standard tuono and watch me do 145mph then retract calling me a ****

Mr FF I think Aldo was just repeating what Nob said and was directed at the guy in the dealer not yourself doing 145mph.

Just my reading of the thread though.

Agreed, any abuse is for the dealer. As you said,'or is the guy just trying to sell me the goldie looking rear sprocket'.
