Hi fellas Bear spoke to me about about the chain slapping onto the exhaust pipes and suggested it could be a larger sprocket on the rear? Could this be right:dunno, and if so what are the standard sprocket front and rear, also what should I change them to make it less sluggish in slow corners, roundabouts and round town etc, preferably without changing the chain. Cheers fellas:biggrin.

16/44 but you will need a new chain...improvements are awesome...but you loose top speed down to about 150mph...

16/44 for the ideal gearing for the earlier 1998 to 2003.5 RSV Mille and RSV Mille R. The standard gearing for this model is 17/42. A new 110 link chain needs to be fitted for 16/44 gear ratio.

Looking at the bike in your photo Nelly, your bike is a 2003.5 onwards RSVR Factory. Your standard gearing is 16 tooth front sprocket and a 40 tooth rear sprocket. The best road gearing for your bike is 15/42. You will not need a new chain for your model RSVR

Changing the sprockets will not cause the chain to hit the exhaust. If the chain is hitting the exhaust then the exhaust link pipes are either bent or incorrectly fitted or the chain is just so slack and needs adjustment
