520 is a lighter/narrower chain so has less power loss through the drivetrain.

Negatives are reduced life and can snap if abused

I know 520 is a racing pitch. What spoonz said sounds right to me.

525 will outlast a 520 by some distance so it's cost effective.

I wouldn't put a 520 on anything over a 750cc myself apart from on the track. The power gains are minimal anyway and a hole in your crankcase is expensive.

A big twin on a 520 over 10k miles + usage is just scary imo

once again cheers mate just something i didnt know and wanted to know :D always good to learn something new ;)

matey i would reiterate what spoonz said. Just so you are aware of the difference in size my kmx125 came as standard with a 520 chain! You could go for a belt and braces approach with a 530 but its pointless unless you have a drag busa or similar!

so the 525 size ends up being the best size (mid range) no too big not too small??.... wow if the 520 chain was used on a 125 id hate to see how long it would last on a 1000 :S???? cheers mate

525 is the correct and safer choice though :thumbup
