All of the 990 cc Rotax engined bikes use the same Sprag clutch but the housing alters between some of the years.
The pegaso uses a completely different sprag design.
Someone asked about why use a sprag if it breaks. You have to really with a big compression bike. Unlike a car or IL4 you can't directly drive the engine from the starter for several reasons.
firstly the starter would have to be too big to have the power to overcome the compression directly. You would have to go through some gearing down to have the capability.
Secondly a big twin or single is prone to kick back. Ask anyone who has kick started a big offroad bike and they will have tales of bruised or broken legs from kick backs. On a direct drive system that kick back would directly be transmitted to your starting mechanism. As a double saftey the Aprilia has a knock sensor to help prevent it but it's not immune especially if your starting on a low batt. With a sprag there is only drive in one direction so it can't happen. It ain't perfect but no one has come up with a better idea yet that i know of.
