In my exsperience (i'm on my 3rd sprag) normally when the sprag goes when you start the bike it makes a grinding noise bit like the engine has chewed up a load of nuts and bolts haveing said that when my first sprag went it was just as you described, don't panic its really not that big a job, I finaly put the bmw sprag on mine about 3 months ago and its been good as gold.:):)

thanks for the info guys i have asked am467 or sommit because he can get me a bmw sprag but how hard is it to do myself and where about is it i have to go on the bike regards chris p.s and is the bmw 1 a straight fit or does it have to be customized abit???

Here you go mate, check out here
and
here.
Sprag is behind the flywheel on the left hand side of the bike (as you sit on it).
Not too big a job but helps if you at least know one end of a spanner from another.

So long as you have the right tools it really isn't a hard job, I had zero mechanical knowledge when mine went but after alot of help and advice from the guys on here and my now ex i'm pretty sure I could do it with my eyes closed.;-)
