Can you beleive it JT did not get a mention in the top 3 for riding a bike like he does, but some jumped up chap gets second for pointing a car in the general direction:dunno where is the justice, he rode his arse off and is a WORLD CHAMPION not a runner up:confused:confused:confused
hats off to the boxers anyone who gets in a ring to get a legal kicking deserves it, well done Joe and Ricky:thumbup lewis :jack

What a farce!!!!

I reckon Lewis Hamilton must be used to coming second....

I've no idea who the Joe bloke is so I don't know if he won anything or not?? All I do know is that the 2nd and 3rd place people didn't actually win anything, did they? however JT has won the WSB title twice now....

British media is the problem guys,Biggest attended sports event this year ,a british double winner and hardly a mention in any of the rags on the monday. Also did we see much of JT's on track achievments eerrrrrr NO.Sadly what ever JT achieves the press will never give him the air time because It's motorbikes, so alas as the question posed by Lineker "will you be the next Barry Sheene" the answer is no , we will never see that type of hype again for our beloved sport.JT is a true champ contested without argument,Ill feeling , drugs and no cheeting. We all know who the real champ is .GOOD LUCK JT FOR '08' GP

At least we know! The commentators on the racing always mention the fact that in Spain and Italy, probably Turkey before too much longer, motor cycle racers are national heros, and they give them lots of resources to get to that level.

Great country, innit?? :jack (Not dead sure whether this icon is scratching his face or.............)

The media is truly to blame...if Sky/Setanta etc.. were not pumping so much money into football and not even bothering to advertise bike racing (can you believe that Moto GP was mentioned once maybe twice all last season in the Sky sport magazine and didn't appear to be listed on the weekly schedules) There may be a possibility that some 'other' sports might reach a wider audience.....The British Superbikes coverage this season was crap and it appears that every time a snooker or darts tournament starts, any other sport gets bumped off the screen. When JT did win a less enthusiastic announcement of a British world champion in the media would be hard to find!!!

Lack of press coverage seems to be a fairly universal problem, unless it is a bunch of squids that have caused a lot of grief to car drivers!:jack:jack Then they'll sensationalize the ocurence until the riders appear to be a bunch of mindless idiots.:puke
I watch some "speedvision" and am able to see some pretty good racing there.:thumbup
You've got to be watching to catch anything on the news or TV, that's positive about bikes.

I hate the media but how can you put football down as a lesser sport than bike racing, surely the huge revenue gernerated by football is gernerated by the demand. The same way a fisherman is never going to win a sports personality.

After all said and done, what do you think JT will cherish the most a world title or a personality trophy

Nope, wasn't putting football down as a lesser sport ( Up the Toon) as you know football is the new Rock & Roll, just pointing out that the obscene amounts of money ploughed in has created a seperate sporting economy around footie at the expense of all other sport!

Thank goodness for Eurosport. I think their coverage of MotoGP and WSB is bloody good. As said elsewhere, finding BSB on the tele can be difficult.

You're right the coverage is brilliant, BUT my concern is that there has been a distinct lack of advertisement of Moto GP & WSB in Sky's publications, which makes me think it might get dropped...which goes hand in hand with the lack of sponsors issues this season leading to a smaller field of riders and Ilmor (from Northants) having to pull out before the season started due to lack of sponsorship. I hope this doesn't happen as my regular fix of (usually) Saturday 1-2 Moto GP qualifying and Sunday 1pm onward Moto Gp race ( plus getting up at stupid o'clock in the morning to watch the Australian or japan GP) would be a huge gap in my life...Plus it would take the edge off those drunken discussions at Christmas agreeing to ride through 3 or more Countries to watch a GP and then thinking...oh crap time to start saving up!!:devious

No one gives a monkeys about motorcycles and stuff so fcuk the media

Foggy summed it up best on SPOTY a few years back it was after his 3rd or 4th Championship. The presenter smarmed "Hmm maybe you'll be nominated next year eh Carl?" cue miserable face and a "Probably not!" response.

At least JT made it into the top 10 this year but I've a feeling he could win the MotoGP title and still not actually win.

Sooper:thumbup.......I think that may call for a thread....wot prem team do you support (with the associated question where do you come from & why that team...usually offers up some interesting answers):devious
