So what tyres do people recommend?

Just got my first RSV. It's in for an MOT tomorrow and will need some new tyres soon. I'm too old for trackdays and looking for something with reasonable grip/wear. Any thoughts?

I'm new to the RSV too, I just put Michelin Pilot Road 2's on mine and so far so good after about 800 miles you'd think they were brand new :biggrin

BT 016's for me, they are excellent all rounders.

Good in the wet, loads of grip in the dry and appear to be lasting well.

Some Pirelli Supercorsa Pros, they will make you feel young again:biggrin

How can you be tooooooooooooooooo old to do trackdays:confused

My last tyres were Super Corsa Pro's and unless it was 20 degrees celsius they had little grip.

If it rained then I had to pull over until the road dried out, was akin to balancing a egg on its end and about as much fun.

2CT's or BT 016's are excellent tyres for all road conditions.

Only way to find out what you like is to try a set, if you don't get on with them then stick them on Ebay.

Track days Hmmmm!!! Agreed, you can never be too old.

T'was tongue firmly planted in cheek amb:devious, i would not recommend them for what he needs, Pilot Powers or similar type of tyre that warms up quick

Thanks

Thanks for the advice. It's got Metzeler Racetecs on at the moment. It'll be interesting to see how they handle the snow when I take it for an MOT tomorrow! What do you recon the age limit is for trackdays then?

ive just had some gp racers fitted got a trackday in march anyone used these ona mille, had them on my zx6r and they felt great, only drawback they wer very pressure sensative

waiting to be shot down........

not tried these on my RSV but had them on my gixxer and loved them - Conti Road Attacks!!!

Good hard centre for touring/commuting and soft edges for playing. Dis a Norway trip with loads of fast bends and hairpins combined with motorway drags.

When they were squared off and ready for a change - did a track day and rounded them back off again!!!!!!:devious

TT

mate of mine runs then on his factory and rates them well

Michelin Pilots mate - the 2CTs are dual compound - sticky on the edges but more hard wearing on the centre.
Cheers for that A303.

All these new terms, I don't know what they will think of next. They will probably start putting cameras in phones.

have tried a lot of types of tyres - supercorsa, viper sport - supersport - extreme, conti race attack etc. etc. etc.

but finally found out, that the best compromise between price, durability and grip on the road as well as on the track is metzeler sportec M3 :thumbup

Give the Racetecs a chance as i'm running them and they stick like **** to a blanket, aren;t terrifying in the wet either (although not as grippy and more focused road tyre). Give them a few runs before changing.

Im on metzeler M1s sporttec and they grip well, cant wait for the summer days to give them a bollockin
