My 2007 T is very sluggish at low speeds round town, it is only happy in 1st gear is this normal?? I am used to the Jap 4s and am just wandering if this is just what i have to get used to with the twin?

The old blade could run around quite happily in 3rd or 4th at these sorts of speeds 30-40mph.

I have heard that a power commander and a run on the dyno works wonders for this low down problems due to the amount Aprilia hold back for emissions, so is it worth the money to get done??

Also the bike is running the smaller front sprocket as well.

Cheers

I also have a 2007 T and have noticed that it's somewhat sluggish in the upper gears at low speeds. I think the is related to how lean it runs. I'm planning on a Power Commander with an appropriate map whenever I replace the stock mufflers. That should clear up the issue.

Yeah, mine was the same. Got a pair of akras and had map 2 installed and it is a load better, though it will never be as good as a jap four at these low speeds.

so far I am experiencing the same thing around town but I just deal cause the bike really shines through the twisties and open roads, man what a blast to ride.

same thing with me ( jap 4s all me life ) thinking about 15/42 t (now 15/40 ) . but as they say on the open road WOW

Guys, the sprocket change is vital but just dropping the front to 15 makes a huge difference on its own.

Yep got mine on a 15 tooth front and with the new exhaust its a big difference, going to save my pennies and get a power commander and it setup but its going to cost around £450 all in.

G'day sluggish slow speeders:lol
I hope you all are not expecting the motor to make grunt while RPM is less than 3000. :eek I was told when I bought my 2007 factory "DO NOT HARD ACCELLERATE UNDER 3000 RPM". Mine will pop the front wheel in the air just blimping the throttle 20-40kmh, no problem. In fact lane changing in heavy traffic can be eventful :lol when twisting the throttle to quickly.:thumbup
The only mod so far is a 15 tooth front sprocket. This made town traffic easier, with no constant clutching.Hope this helps you get to grips with your tuonos'.
:cheers Perry

Have just checked out the bits i got with the bike and counted the front sprocket and its a 15T so i have been fed false info i was told the front sprocket had been changed so this looks not to be the case it must be on the 16T still so i am going to change this first thing tomorrow and see what like it is.

I take it its easy enough simply slacken the rear wheel to give chain some slack then cover off for sprocket and swap over? Anyone know what torque the sprocket should be on at? Also rear wheel torque?

Cheers
