I have just done a track day on my 03 RSV R & had trouble with my back wheel locking up on down shifts into tight corners i have owned this bike for about 12 months,& have not had any trouble on the road only on track when riding hard & shifting down,
I know this bike has some sort of slipper clutch as standard, but i have read some where that it is not that good, was thinking of fitting a Slipper Clutch or should i look into a service on mine any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers Marksie

hey Marksie, it's not a slipper per say - it works on a pnuematic type system where the diaphrame uses back pressure to help ease it. They say you shouldn't blip the throttle on downshifts as this renders the system useless, so yo have to just bang it down a couple at a time to get the effect, if you want a slipper then it's bank rolling time I'm afraid.

i might have an stm for sale soon if i decide to sell my bike £350... not decided to sell my bike yet but i need more power and I'm contemplating Japanese misery

don't do it, i've seen you round cadders & you're plenty quick enough m8
you'll hate yourself for it!!!

Hi Bikerfrenzy
are you happy with the STM slipper, would you recommend fitting one for track days ,are the easy to fit do i need any special tools

A free solution is to just raise the tickover to about 1500-2000 RPM , it just allows a bit of juice to the engine while you are blipping on 3rd to 2nd etc.
Never use 1st

works for me!

Not really the same but I bet it does help at least!

A proper slipper you can just downshift and dump the clutch even from the redline.

Thanks for the reply Miff
But i have just ordered one , should have it by the end of the month, do i need any special tools to remove
