Take it easy on first lap, tyre warmers are a must have imo dspite others saying only racers need em, makes alot of difference on the first lap. Good luck, and most important of all, enjoy it!
Beg to differ there chap.:devious
Even Ron Haslam says they are a waste of time for trackdays, you generally spend so long in the pit lane waiting for the off that they've cooled down anyway and you've just put another (wasted) heat cycle through them.
Plus with FE they say you should be taking it easy on the first few laps anyway, when you get to the Advanced group they tend to get on it a bit during the first lap or two but by then you're into willy waving territory anyway.
There's no reason to be worried about a trackday, certainly if you are trailering or vanning the bike there, just take off anything you can easily remove, tape the lights (and preferably cover or disconnect the brake light) and just go as fast (or slow) as you feel comfortable with.
It's
NOT a race, and there are no prizes for being first (you could be in line for a ****y prize though if you bin it during the first session)
Best advice I was given was:
1) to eat and drink properly during the day
2) remember that during the last session of the day when you are starting to relax and feel invincible that you are in fact much more tired than you realise, and you should just use the last 20 mins as a warm down.
