Ok the Gsxr stand change.
Firstly a pic of the 2 stands. It's obvious why the Gsxr stand works so well as it moves the footprint further away from the bike and with less lean.
The first job I did was to add a very small amount of weld to the Aprilia sidestand bracket. You could skip this part but i found that the stand then went slightly past the normal down angle that Aprilia intended. By raising the notch by about 4-5mm it's stop at the right place. A couple of blobs of weld and then file it down. That is all you need to do to the bracket.
The Gsxr stand originally bolted to it's bracket from the back but the Aprilia is the opposite so that the sidestand switch can mount to the bolt head. That means the Gsxr stand is threaded on the wrong side.
You need to drill the threaded side of the gsxr stand out to the same size as the Aprilia bolt shoulder which i think from memory was 10mm. (check first)
You also need the hole for the sidestand switch pin drilled at about 4 o'clock. You can use the swtich mounted on the bolt in the stand to get it exact.
You now have the hole the right size on the front of the Gsxr stand but no thread on the rear. This is where you have 2 options.
The nut that came with the Gsxr mounting bolt is shouldered. If will press perfectly into the back of the stand to act as your thread. It can't pull through beyond the shoulder. If you use the Aprilia bolt to pull it in by tightening it it will locate it perfectly aligned for the bolt to thread straight in.
THe alternative is to fill in the back hole with weld and re drill and tap it to the correct thread size. I've done it both ways before and both work well.
These pics show the nut installed.
Then it's just a case of mounting it. The original Aprilia nut goes on the end of the bolt as a lock nut. Use the original Aprilia spring which goes straight on.
Hopefully that explains it reasonably well. Fire away if there are any questions when you come to do it.
