I'll strip it down and write it up with pics asap. Probably Sunday.

Cheers mate, just bought one so will need the info.....:thumbup

Was out today for 4 hours.......Bloody superb weather.....:biggrin

Ok the Gsxr stand change.

Firstly a pic of the 2 stands. It's obvious why the Gsxr stand works so well as it moves the footprint further away from the bike and with less lean.

The first job I did was to add a very small amount of weld to the Aprilia sidestand bracket. You could skip this part but i found that the stand then went slightly past the normal down angle that Aprilia intended. By raising the notch by about 4-5mm it's stop at the right place. A couple of blobs of weld and then file it down. That is all you need to do to the bracket.

The Gsxr stand originally bolted to it's bracket from the back but the Aprilia is the opposite so that the sidestand switch can mount to the bolt head. That means the Gsxr stand is threaded on the wrong side.
You need to drill the threaded side of the gsxr stand out to the same size as the Aprilia bolt shoulder which i think from memory was 10mm. (check first)
You also need the hole for the sidestand switch pin drilled at about 4 o'clock. You can use the swtich mounted on the bolt in the stand to get it exact.

You now have the hole the right size on the front of the Gsxr stand but no thread on the rear. This is where you have 2 options.
The nut that came with the Gsxr mounting bolt is shouldered. If will press perfectly into the back of the stand to act as your thread. It can't pull through beyond the shoulder. If you use the Aprilia bolt to pull it in by tightening it it will locate it perfectly aligned for the bolt to thread straight in.
THe alternative is to fill in the back hole with weld and re drill and tap it to the correct thread size. I've done it both ways before and both work well.
These pics show the nut installed.

Then it's just a case of mounting it. The original Aprilia nut goes on the end of the bolt as a lock nut. Use the original Aprilia spring which goes straight on.

Hopefully that explains it reasonably well. Fire away if there are any questions when you come to do it.

100 % perfect mate, cheers big time.................. you're a star....:thumbup

Is there any other way of adding the 5mm to the bracket....aint got a welder you see

drill a small hole and put a small self tapper into it. The bigger the head the better.
If you mount it onto the notch it will increase it's width by the head of the self tapper and that should do the job. Then loctite it it place.

Thats what i was thinking..........will have a look when i get the other stand and take the old one off

Cheers again mate

Right, i got the stand today, managed to drill and press the nut, thought i would try the fit to see how much to add to the bracket, might add the weld to the side stand instead, once fitted it looked ok and tucks up good under the end can....BUT....The aprilia springs for the stand are to long and the gsxr springs are to short....FFS

Any suggestions

the suzuki spring fits fine on mine without any mods to it. It's has to be a tight fit otherwise it won't hole the stand up. I found it easier to mount the spring and then pull the stand down stretching the spring to mount the pivot bolt.

I wrongly stated use the Aprilia spring earlier but just checked mine and it's deffo the Suzuki one.

Well i got it all done today and fitted, springs look a little over streched and now the bike seems to sit upright to much, hardly any lean at all.....think i'm going to give up :dunno

looked into getting a USA stand £100 then plus shipping and import tax....

Eye tiz better now with more lean :thumbup What if us early model boys chopped some off the standard one and made the foot plate longer, surly that would make it better :confused

I think your stand must be different to mine. My bike leans the same as your shortened version and the standard Gsxr spring fitted fine. I didn't have to alter the stand length at all.

I have notice that 06 on rsv's have a different stand/bracket part number to 04/05 so maybe you bracket is at a different angle to mine.

Yeah thats probably it...it was a gxsr750 stand.....but looked the same as yours, the spring seems ok to now, it has no cover like the aprilia one so may look more stretched than it is.......but i'm happy with it now so thats all that counts....:thumbup

Cheers for your help mate........:thumbup
