I see this has been brought up a few times, by the sounds of it, since the beginning of time. BUT, could someone explain do you have to have ohlins front & rear to fit or will a cbr side stand fit straight to a non factory without much difficulty.

I find the Pratt & Whitney slightly better than the RB211, but you can use a Mr Kipling Bakewell tart instead.

Thanks paul, for that erudite bit of cods whallop. And wtf is everyone bitching about with the sidestand?? Never an issue for me loaded up for hols or not.

Paul maybe EyeTye could use the rb211 as a stand and the cbr as suspension. Don't fancy the fuel bill though.

Think the US and Canada have different ones fitted Shvl, thats prob why its not an issue. There's photo's of US and Euro stands side by side on AF1 somewhere and yours are erm . . . longer and thicker. The better US stands can be obtained by southern cross for about £100. Or at least they could in July when i rang for a quote.

There's also a guy on AF1 based in southern england who makes replacement stands which kick out from under the bike more than standard, username is Bubseywoo (Gary Hastings is his real name). He sells them on ebay too for around £50. . .

Or, a 2006 blade stand should fit any Gen2 Tuono, factory or otherwise. As far as im aware anyway.

It is indeed a straight fit for all 2nd generation bikes (i.e. 2004-2009 RSVR, 2006-2009 Tuono).

It just needs to be a 2004-2007 CBR1000 Fireblade stand. You don't need the spring, switch or bracket. Just the stand!

The USA side stands are in deed different to the Europe ones, due to their straight roads they don't need to lean over and hence don't have ground clearance problems, like those that ride twisties !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Think about it m8. Yer dead right about the stands being on the left side, what side of the road do them yanks and euro buds drive on and do their roads have cambers. To put it in simple terms if you park yer bike on the right hand side of the road opposing the trafic direction and take into account the camber then there isn't as much lean angle.

Fluck me guys I seem to have caused confusion here. I am in the UK and have a 1000r and reading past threads on the side stand there was a mention on having to have ohlins fitted front and rear. As mine is standard bike I was curious as to why we needed ohlins fitted before fitting a side stand from a honda, I wont mention cbr 1000rr again.

So my question is .............. do ohlins have to be fitted before fitting a side stand from a different bike.
