Just been phoning around to get the Tuono its first 600 mile service and there seems to be a big difference in pricing.

Some dealers seem to charge a lot more because you didn't buy the bike from them. One even said they would only service their customers bikes?????!!!!!

As I live in Wales there isn't much choice so may have to travel to get a good deal. Any recommendations??

Been quoted mostly around the £250-£300 mark. Seem to get the same speil, it would have been cheaper if we supplied you with the bike etc. etc.....

Got to call a guy back tomorrow so hopefully will get a sensible quote.

Hi Wills9, same story here. My locals dealerships are D&K and Speedaway, both quoted around £250, got mine done at Speedaway, but luckily the bill came in less at £218. :thumbup

Biggest problem I had tho' was the wait, around 4 weeks is the norm.

Hi Wagman, just booked mine in with A&D Motorcycles in Denbeigh could have had it done this saturday but I couldn't make it so have booked it in on the 13th now.

They were very friendly on the phone and said to expect the cost to be around the £200 mark. So am pleased really.

Got a new one coming soon myself and was quoted 200 quid for the initial service with Taz at Peterborough, supposedly special price for buying from them etc....

So I guess 250-300 aint too bad

AHA! We come to the only ***** in the Tuono's armour - the dealer network.
Rule #1: If you find a good dealer, stay with 'em.
Rule #2: see rule #1

Hi mate,

I have just bought a new 2009 black dream Tuono from kickstart in Port Talbot from Paul. Great dealer really friendly and always willing to help, I've got the 1st service free, yes free!!!
I see ur down Newquay way, so the ride to Port Talbot wouldnt be too far. I can really recommend them at Kickstart and if u mention my name u might get a good reception when asking about servicing.
Hope this helps pal.

Hi Nick

Spoke to them and they won't service the bike as I didn't buy it from them. They only service customer bikes between the March and Oct.

So have gone to A&D in Denbeigh and they've been really helpful, offered me a bike to have while mine's in so they will hve my business from now on.

WTF is it with these idiots? "...won't service it because I didn't buy it from them." What a ****!!!!:banghead

Don't these *******s want our hard-earned? They bloody well don't deserve it!:megaphone

Sorry guys, but these attitudes really boil my blood. These bloody bike shops have had it too good for too long. They treat customers like beggars. I, for one, am sick of it.:kicknuts

I will be doing my own servicing once my warranty is up. Throttle body balancing and other ECU issues will be about the only thing I need from my dealer (they're the ones with the Axone machine, after all) following that.

AF1 in Texas will be getting my mail-order parts business. At least they know how to look after their customers, and treat them like they mean something to their business: not just as an interruption to a conversation; or as something to be put into the "too hard" basket because you want them to look after something out-of-the-ordinary - like an exotic Italian masterpiece, instead of a UJM.

Last time I bought something from AF1 in the USA, it took less than a week to get here. Less time than it took my dealer to get the price from the importer on the parts I was chasing. Effing ridiculous!

i got my factory serviced at kickstart. it was its 6500 mile service and they did it in april. i didnt buy the bike from them and they even loaned me a bike to get back home on. speak as you find and i cant fault them, friendly guys, great service and as much coffee as you can handle. price wasnt bad either. but as you say they have been known to refuse to service bikes that they havent supplied. it happened to a mate with his first service. i think that its the first service that they wont do but you would have to check.

Well I would have thought any service is business!!!! I can't understand the logic behind their thinking, but hey, if that's their policy then I can understand how they are going to gain new business, especially in these tight economic times.

Like I said they won't be having any of my money, so that's one customer they've lost.

Whats involved?

Just wondered really what is involved on the first service?....:crazy

Is it like any other bike..Oil and filter change...Check chain and and a quick look around at the nuts and bolts.

If this is the case and there is no major teqhnical issues or equipment used then I shall use my local contact who charges half of some of these quotes!

Let me no guy's:thumbup

I know what you mean i was getting the same crap last year and i asked for map 2 to be installed and they never done it so i now travel the 100 miles to griff at aprilia performance :thumbup you can give him a ring 0182785500 like streetbike said he is the man only works on aprilia and knows what he is doing :thumbup

My main dealer is a bit of a trek and although they're a nice bunch, I only take it there for major services and any diagnostic things, Anything else such as minor servicing I take it to the aprilia scooter dealer round the corner, they'll work on any make of bike, are much cheaper and will stamp the service book as they're still official dealers...Pretty pleased with that set up as the pricing can be a hit and miss elsewhere.

Aye Aye Toby69,

Where abouts did you get yours serviced at? It wasn't shirlawas in Aberdeen was it?

I am in Oldmeldrum so looking for a good local garage.

How you liking the Tuono then?

Hi

I'm just loving the Tuono, suit's me so much better than the Blade. Just hope it keeps me smiling the more miles I do.

I got it sevriced by John at Huntly motorcycles. Bought the bike from him too so maybe thats why it was so cheap. I've used John for many many years now and really can't fault him, and he's quite a bit cheaper than the places in Aberdeen. I have to say though he aint always the best to speak too ( never been too bad with me, just what other have said) but don't let that put you off.

Maybe catch up for a run sometime. Check out http://www.mcmc.org.uk
