Hi there Folks,

As I dont realy Know much about my new 01' rsv(or any other rsv for that matter)and didn't get the owners handbook with the bike I have no idea when it should be serviced. The bike shows 8500 just now and had new plugs oil and filters at 7500, can someone tell me when it is due another service please? And also does anyone know of any good garages to take it to?I am about 30 miles south of Glasgow.
cheers.

don't know if the early rsv's are the same but the later ones >04 6500 miles intrim servive, 12500 miles main service shims etc.

on my o2 the biggy service(valve check) was at 15 k, then a 'major' every other service. Valves rarely need adjusting on the mille.

Your bike will be just about due for a service any time now Ross there is a service light on the dash that will light up when it's due as I said thats about now, mine come on at 8700 miles but I've done mine myself

they are amazing engines, in 46k my valves have never needed adjusting, the fork seals, sprag, steering bearings etc are still holding up well too as are the brake pad pins etc, which if you ride all year round usually dont last long.
Once i wear this engine out Im just going to swap it over for a nice 03 one.
cheers Ck

Thanks for the info guys, from what was said the engines sound pretty good on reliability!!So doesn,t anyone Know of any good places for serviceing in the Glasgow area?(I,m not to hot at the self seviceing the bike)Also on saturday tried to start the bike,it started for about a second then cut out,it was pretty cold. She started fine second time round but the clocks had went to kmph, does anyone have any ideas as to why this happened?????????

Cheers

Ross, welcome to the site but i suggest you do some reading on this forum and find as much about your Mille as you can. The clocks have reset to Km/h because your battery is weak. You need to keep these bikes hooked up to an Optimate III SP at all times. There are enough threads on here to explain why.

Your service intervals are every 4500 miles going from minor service to major service including a valve clearance check.

It might be worth you searching through ebay for an owner manual. Be sure to get the 01 to 03 one though :thumbup

Thanks mate,
I have bought the owners manual from e-bay already just waiting for it to arrive. And as for the battery,I dont have power in the garage where the bike is stored so hooking up to the optimate could be a problem.Only thing i could would be to charge the battery overnight before a ride.

Ross, if you can get power to your garage, it'll save you a lot of hassle especially if the bike's not used regularly. These bikes need the battery to be in tip top condition otherwise you can have all sorts of problems.

BIG PROBLEMS

Well the garage is a council owned lock up about two miles from my house but if not being hooked up to an optimate is going to cause problems i,m sure i can get some juice from the nearest lamp post, what with me being an electrician!

Cheers for the warning guys.

Try to PM badger ref garages, as he's up your neck of the woods mate, plus he's a bit of a guru when it comes to these bikes :thumbup

hello.

what about service light on our mille? How many km does it need to turn on? I've my mille for around 20kkm now and "service" just turned on on my dash. I don't remember that it was on before. It would be great to turn on every 6kkm, to remind you to change the oil ;)
