Hi Guys,
Ive attempted this before & recovered the riders seat on my 92 Blade...
Basically this is how its done if like me you are too tight to buy one. Lol.
Admittedly it doesnt look as cool as the ones you buy that are multi-coloured & have ithe Italian flag on etc but it does the job if your standard seat is looking tired or damaged & its cheaper too! 8)
Remove seat & unpick the staples securing the cover to the seat base...
Then unpick the stitching removing the seem strip & the 2x "ears" that wrap over the corners of the seat...
Using the 3x original pieces as templates, draw round them on the new material & cut them out...
My wife then sewed the "ears" into position using her sewing machine...
She then sewed the seem strip into position. This is used for securing the seat cover to the seat base because if you staple directly through the vinyl it is very likely to tear...
Now stretch the seat cover over the seat foam & start securing with a staple gun working you way from front to back, side to side, stretching & stapling as you go...
Then turn it over, admire your handy work...
Fit to bike & jobs a good un...
Feel free to give me your feedback on my budget D.I.Y job lads!
