Pretty much what it says on the title.

I've found a small company over here specialized in maintenance / repair of shocks. They can change all the internals to your desire, they can even add a deposit with nitrogen gas to keep the oil cool, like seen in this pic:

They charge about 150£ for the service. Do you think it's worth a try ?

I bought a s/h Ohlins (huge improvement), plan would be to put the sachs one back on "if" i ever decide to sell, then sell the Ohlins on too. Tried and tested & Kinda makes sense money wise too.

not saying you wouldnt end up with a good shock tho...

I personally would'nt spend 150Euro on the std Sach shock thats worth about £25.As above,I bought an Ohlins that I will sell on,....if/and/or/when I ever sell the bike.

i had the same idea gord when i had me tuoldo, i snapped one on ebay fer £8 !!!!!!! + 12 p+p.

only done 500miles.

in the end, i sold the bike and bought a factory.

save yer dosh fer second hand ohlins.. as above.. much better option.

Thanks for your input, gents :yes
My main concern is that if I decide to have the shock modified there won't be a noticeable difference...
I mean, I know the oil in the shock changes its viscosity as heat builds up, but what guarantees do I have that the addition of an external deposit will improve its behaviour ? Could it be that it's only a matter of heat degrading the shock's performance, or could it be that the internals are just poorly designed ? I don't have a clue...

Ohlins units only appear from time to time on Ebay, and not everyone is willing to ship abroad... :no

you could stick a wanted add on here & some of the other forums... some people are reluctant to ship abroad.. if you find one in the uk that wont ship abroad, then im sure there's plenty of folk on here (including me) that would help sort out "posting it on" to you...

"Problem" solved :yes

I got an Ohlins from a RSV Factory from italian Ebay.

The shock I bought has about 20.000 Km's of use ( about 12.400 miles ), I think I'm going to have it serviced before fitting it to the T.

Anyone know the costs of having the Ohlins serviced ?

:thumbup Thanks Keith

Good info, now I have an estimate of how much it will cost.

if it helps i got an RSV Sachs rear shock on mine as of Monday night. cranked it up so much i nearly broke me arse piece in two! but it has helped lots, and as the bike spends it's life ont he road (track days are in plan this year) it seems fine. i know some peeps say Ohlins or nothing but it's enough for me & might be another option.
